    Baby Boomers

I'm kind of chiming in on two posts here. I agree that baby boomers will stop buying, and start selling their stocks...bad for the stock market. Also, another point is that they'll cut consumption...also bad for the stockmarket. What will be interesting for a "tweener" like me...just...

Greenspan Releases Report: Amazing Facts & Charts On Home Equity Extraction

The average American took on a lot of debt to buy assets. So its misleading to say cash on hand minus debt...you have to add in assets too. Otherwise, you're picking and choosing. By that index, I'm hundreds of thousands of dollars in the hole. But my net worth is higher than I ever...

Greenspan Releases Report: Amazing Facts & Charts On Home Equity Extraction

Cool graph. What is interesting is that the "value" line had smooth acceleration until recently. If you were to plot in on semi-log paper, it would likely be a straight line that would dip downward over the last year, almost indicating that the downward price movement over the last year is an...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

***Well, I can take solace in the fact that Lereah now thinks that things won't improve until 2008. Since he's always wrong, this is bullish. :) Existing home sales plunge in March By MARTIN CRUTSINGER, AP Economics Writer 50 minutes ago WASHINGTON - Sales of existing homes plunged...

Will Divorce law be the next big growth industry?

Yeah, but then they need two homes to live in, whether they own or rent.

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

I can see that. But it would be hard to sell short because your transaction costs (closing costs) would eat you up on the buy and sell. Whats interesting is that the housing prices fell 3 or 4% over the last year. Wonder how that compares to the previous 3 years? If its like my local market...

    Subprime crisis= no crisis

Foreclosures are a really small percentage of the overall market, and truly, if you research it you'll see that the Foreclosure rate has basically been very depressed until recently because we've been in "boom times" for the last few years. Though the newspapers keep reporting it as "worst...

    Auto Economics...New Cars $2500 to $3500...

Hey, just looking at all this reminds me of the lovable VW beetle. I have one...an old one...and I gotta say that the company started screwing up when it added all of the mandatory safety features. Too bad they had no choice. A neat little car that did what it was supposed to do, and nothing...

    Subprime crisis= no crisis

Salaries can still catch up due to inflation as long as the effect of inflation pulls more weight than offshoring. My opinion is that most of the offshoring that can be done is being done, but inflation is just starting... Housing prices will continued to be justified and will start to rise...

That document is dated March 12th. How long do you think it took them to compile it before publishing? Its good info, but when I skimmed it, it looked like most of the data was no more current than end of the year stuff. Seems like all the information has been discounted into the market. I...
