But I have 4 guitars and also TWS, TOS, TC2000. At least I can try.

Will check it later when I get home, don't have TOS here. Thank you.

Thank you for chiming in, Chief. Comforting to hear you reinforce that approach. Three months ago when I discovered your over 1400 page thread on SPX threads you became my first hero on this forum. The way you explained all you were doing was clear, made sense and seemed easy to follow; I...

You're totally right. Increased volatility will make that BE move higher, so against me. Haven't thought it would go this way, but the simulator confirms it.

An edge can mean various things to different people. For me a simple setup that makes sense to me and can be set based on clear rules is part of the edge. I’m tired of running scans almost every evening in search of potential trade candidates. I would love to be able to concentrate on indexes...

Continuing here. As time passes the P/L curve will start showing a wider profit area. Shown after 10 days here. Depending on where RUT is at that time, I’ll decide whether to close it or push my luck and wait a bit more. Now please shoot.

Now I’ll set this 231 PUT fly with all OTM strikes for March 1st expiration. It’s set for a $1.10 credit, I don’t know why it’s shown with a minus, but that is a different story. The credit is minor, but this doesn’t kill an account. Max loss is killing, but I think it’s not a big concern like...

    231 Butterflies

I’ll start this thread hoping to help everyone who still has more questions than answers about these butterflies – definitely my situation. I’m sure I’ll gather more criticism than thanks, but hope to learn from it. This may not be even close to the typical butterfly destriero was talking about...

    The staggered butterflies

Yes, found all his aliases. Despite spending a lot of time on his journals, I think I only gained more insight lately when the subject was revisited few times in the last two years or so. I think I now have a decent understanding of one of the setups and will start a new thread on it tomorrow...

    The staggered butterflies

True, Destriero posted a ton on the fly subject and I spent more than a month trying hard to digest the information. I don't know about others, but for me his explanations are too cryptic. I'm sure the few speaking his language don't even need those things explained, but many of us are still...

    The staggered butterflies

Don't be surprised if google will steer you into this forum. Anyway I'll volunteer to take on the embarrassment. If you have a bullish bias for example, do you use the upper setup and set it so the -3 peak is where you expect the UL to be? Or you set it so the peak sits a bit lower than that...

    Destriero, please make some light.

    The staggered butterflies

There must be something about the staggering, otherwise why pay commissions for 8 legs (4 per fly) instead of 4 for the condor? On the other hand, given the volume some people trade, the commissions they enjoy may not even come as a decision factor.

    The staggered butterflies

My question is simply why place two butterflies (8 legs total) when a condor with appropriate strikes will have the same profit diagram and involves 4 legs only. What am I missing here? Hope destriero will chime in.

    The staggered butterflies

Following advice from the big guys in this forum I took a dive and tried to find the hidden wisdom in the good old butterfly threads. Now the question I have may prove I have nothing learned, but I will go ahead and ask and will appreciate feedback. Thank you. In this thread from last year...

You should know that the most famous turtle, Richard Dennis continued to trade after the turtle experiment and lost big time including other people's money.

Exporting option chain data to Excel

I eventually gave up on IB/TWS and did it from TOS. You can export many expirations at a time. Quick and easy. Thanks for all the ideas.

Exporting option chain data to Excel

Not sure what you're asking. The option chain data I gather is meant for some back testing I plan to do later on.

Exporting option chain data to Excel

Yes, your file looks right. I don't know where the problem is. What version of TWS are you using? I use the stable one, not the latest. I also use MS Office 2013.
