They clear thru penson. You can get the financials for Penson since it is a public company. In addition any cash < 500k is covered by SIPC. So if u really have a LOT of $ , put 500K in diff brokers and if you have any loose change you can give me some...LOL
All these increases is making flat fee arrangement with brokers more enticing. Pro#1. You get that extra layer of protection in case one of the exchanges do one of these retro assesments. Yes, you will most likely get an increase from your broker later on but you won't get socked with a big...
madmunny, kindly enlighten me on the fee change. I am not a contract expert but reading the pdf file in this thread twice, I still can't see AMEx request for fee increases that affects traders. I read such doc as affecting companies desiring to be listed at the AMEX. While we are on the subject...
As a follow up to my earlier post, I tried out an account with a retail LLC that gave me .003 +-pass thru fees. Looking at my sheets last year, it seems that when I trade NY using one of the DOT routes, MLCO,Belz, there is an additional charge which brought up my per share charge around 1/2 a...
Is'nt the validity of a contract contingent on it not violating the law. It seems to me that a firm can't just take that loss as their own if the trader came in with let's say 10K and lost 8K for the year. He should be able to claim that 8k for his personal loss.
Think about it.
Firm A...
Way up there in terms of being the best retail options broker in the biz . Consider the whole package in terms of comm, platform, analytics, live support, margin, and don't forget education/training thru their online seminars and chats.
SSB. I too had that concern when I first came i into that situation about the discrepancy 2-3 years back. As long as your sales are> than the brokers 1099. It would be worse if Broker says sales are 100K and u report 99K . You'd be reporting > broekr due to option sales. Bottom line is a long...
SSBob, options are not reported in 1099 so if u did stocks and options trades in year. Your 1099 will NEVER match your own gross sales. It is up to you to add theoptions sales to your gross sales and up to you to come up with the matching buys for those sales of options
So do you guys think this 1.67 number can be extended intraday? For example a 10 min chart would have its own HV right. Can you take the open to close 10 min bars for the past 30 10M periods lets say and run this test and decide that anything > 1.67 shows mean reversion so fade the spikes vs...
My understanding is that before you can trade for a firm, part of the process is getting a U4 and filing it with the regs. In addition you need to receive a u5 from the old firm. Does the old firm have to give you a U5 BEFORE you can start the process of the u4? Some firm's backoffice might...
I am a little confused about the pass thru costs on NYSE stocks that sit on specialist book < 5 min. The IB unbundled commission table shows $0 for removing liq and "As charged by spec:Avg $0.01 " for adding liquidity. Does that mean that if I add liq on 1000 shares of AMD using NY route, I...
gbos, do you think one can accomplish measuring trendiness of underlying by using common tech analysis measurements instead of plugging OHLC data in XL much like what you did. I can think of at least the ADX indicator or maybe an RSI above 80 to indicate trend strength. What do you think this...
gbos, you think this measure has some semblance of working? IOw, you think it has a chance of working in real life and should not just be confined in the whiteboard of academia? Thanks
Taleb defines it differently. He takes the Hist vol of stock A over 50 days lets say and then takes the hist vol of 60 min bars for an equal amount of time and takes the ratio. MEasures trendiness vs mean revertness of stock . Ex if IBM has a hist vol of 20 daily but 50 intraday, it tells...
