I don't really know the reason(s) for that, but I'd say that Sicily isn't as centered as Sardegna is and this is usually a good reason. When I think of all these poor guys from Sardegna who came to Switzerland in the 50s and would have sold you their lands there for almost nothing. Raging :cool:

Sardegna is the typical hot place where people are ready to spend fortune to buy land. Sicily (OK, let's forget about Taormina...) is not.
