    Day trading is for suckers?

The haters on this board will not like this. He made $167K in 2 days. But remember a last week he was down -$90K open losses and held unitl it came back to low 5 figures($12K net). This is why I stopped using his service. Doesn't match my risk profile. haha. But he likes to swing big...

    Day trading is for suckers?

I think he's legit. I've been in his room for a couple of months. I've seen him call out trades in real-time. The reason I stop subscribing to his service is because I'm more of a large cap trader. He trades small caps/low floats most of the time. Also, I've seen him short front side too many...

What Hedge Funds Own – and What It Says About the Market

HNW are High Net Worth individuals who are the ones qualified to invest in hedge funds. They are suckers for exclusivity. But at the end of day, returns matter...

What Hedge Funds Own – and What It Says About the Market

That's nice to say on paper. But most hedge funds don't even hedge!!! On down markets, they lose just as much as the index does and sometime worse. Good try on the marketing bullshiet that HNWs fall for.

What Hedge Funds Own – and What It Says About the Market

The average hedge fund returns are dismal. Only a handful are good. The rest suck badly.

Need A Job? David Shaw’s Hiring

some of it is operation. But not backoffice. Traders also come up with the strategies and ideas. If it's all operations then there's no way they would pull down the 7 figures. Some aspects of it is somewhat operational.

Need A Job? David Shaw’s Hiring

Not exactly. Despite the system being "fully automated", they still need to be babysit. The traders mostly babysit the execution of the trades to make sure it's performing as planned. Also, there are programming errors, things going down, etc. Thousands of unplanned things that can happen that...

Need A Job? David Shaw’s Hiring

True. Some quants later on become quant traders. But they usually start out being glorified overpaid software engineers with great math skills. ROFL. But after a few years most quants are in the $450K-$500K range. And if they get into quant trading instead of just being quants they make low 7...

Need A Job? David Shaw’s Hiring

DE Shaw interviews are one of the toughest quantitative interviews on the Street. Probably only Rentech is tougher. They hire math, compsci, physics, hard sciences majors from the top tier IvyPlus schools. A friend of mine from college got an offer from DE Shaw. He turned it down to go work for...

    IB's most ridiculous margin requirement

This is why I've stopped trading IB. I still occasionally put on small trades. I can't swing the size I like to anymore.

    how to learn trading?

If a mentor has that level of consistency and profits then they wouldn't even bother mentoring anyone. I'm no market wizard(at least not yet. hehe) and I still dont want to both mentoring anyone. Not worth my time and distract me from trading. That's the irony about the trading mentoring space.

So retailers just stop paying rent ...yep billions in profits but can't afford 1 months rent

Because they spent the billions to buyback their stocks so their executives can get rich off of the options! Very perverse system. Now they are all asking for a bailout. It's actually worse than that. They issued bonds(i.e. borrow money since it's so cheap) and used the borrowed money to do...

    $286 left

True. Those kinds of returns are not easily obtained. But there are traders that bank $15K today on penny stocks like SAEX. SAEX is only a $3+ stocks. 15K shares which is only $45K+ on margins. Quite doable even on my account with margins. $1 move on 15K shares is $15K. That's how these small...

A $6 Billion Windfall: Mexico's Massive Oil Hedge Is Paying Off

Not really. You should read other articles. Their hedges have PAID OFF hundreds of millions or billions almost every year. Of course, some year the hedges don't work out. But they are a producer so it's probably net net fine.

A $6 Billion Windfall: Mexico's Massive Oil Hedge Is Paying Off

I've read past articles where their hedges paid off in the hundreds of millions to billions. They are by far the best oil hedgers/traders in the industry.

Took out a loan to transition to full-time trading. Now 27 years old.

Fresh MBA grads from top b-schools (HBS, Stanford, Wharton, etc.) get roughly $250K package right out of the gate. This includes base, sign-on bonuses, etc. After a few years, $500K-$700K is not uncommon. These are NOT partner level. Partners comp runs well into the 7 and 8 figures. So, I...
