POLL: Do You Fade or Trend Trade?

Got my head handed to me too many times trying to fight the trend. Finally woke up and realized my trading style is more fitted towards trend following. -Nick

Is giving back 15 ticks too much when day trading YM using 5min chart?

I would say when to exit is the hardest part of trading. Some trades you will love your trail stop because it saved you, other times you will hate because it kept you out of the big move. Only you know your style and what your comfortable with. Im more comfortable with a bigger stop in order...

    MyMiniTrading

That is a very nice looking chart. What I thought we were talking about was intra-day movements. Long-term for me is 30 minutes. I agree with you that over the long haul the markets will appreciate. However, I'm trying to capitalize on the movements intraday. The question needs to be...

    MyMiniTrading

Just throwing my 2 cents in. I find the short side to be more proftitable then the long side. I guess I see fear as a more powerful emotion then greed. I'm not saying that the long side doesn't work though. -Nick

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

Romik, I noticed that you are a candle trader, I am also. I tried to incorporate the divergence with the candles but found that i was having alot critieria that had to be met and missing too many trades. Is the divergence you use seperate from the way you trade candles or have you found a way...

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

I used to use a divergence system on a 2 and 3 minute chart. Divergence looked great in hindsight, but, at least for me, applying it in real-time didnt produce the results I thought it should. If you can get it work, more power to you. I'm just curious to see if you have traded using the...

    Crude bounce.....

I'm still bullish on only for a couple of reasons: 1) I'm showing a up sloping trendline holding very well over the past couple of weeks 2) The price-action has been bullish the past couple of days ( overnight/morning had a down move, but the bulls had enough to bring it back up) 3) I...

    books about pivot points?

Thats the only book I ever came across on pivot points. Since it has some other info, such as candlesticks, its not just about pivots. It would be hard to write an entire book on pivots and have it be longer then 10 pages. Nonetheless, Person's book is still very good. -Nick

    trend lines [part 1]

Nate, There ya go. I must warn you that I dont use 60 minute charts or trade stocks at all, so take that as you will. I do look for gaps, and there are some in this chat (I only look for gaps from the close of day 1 to the open of day 2) -Nick

    trend lines [part 1]

Nate, Attached is what I would draw for trendlines. I dont use them very much, except for daily s/r levels. I also threw on some candle formations for ya. They might not meet the "official" definition of some fo the formations, but in an intra-day setting I find that you have a little room...

    Dax data / eSignal Data

jerryz. I switched to tradestation recently. I only trade the mini futures, so I dont even know if they offer DAX. All i know is that TS seems to be a better data provider, and its MUCH cheaper than esignal. I would check TS out to see if it has what your looking for. -Nick

    Dax data / eSignal Data

Another "satisfied" esignal customer. I just recently left for many of problems that are at that company. I can tolerate the high prices they charge, but I cant tolerate paying that much for data that is less then accuarate ( as you pointed out with this post). My advice, run the other way...

    Support and resistance..( help pls)

Cashmoney, After thinking about what you were probably looking for with this thread, and the fact the mini's are starting to slow down, I decided to go back on the daily chart and find the support-resistance levels. Also, i include a FALLING WINDOW, or more commonly known as a gap down...

    Support and resistance..( help pls)

I would agree with most of that statement. However, I thinking looking at more then 3 months will you find the support/resistance lines. Also, just because the price is approaching your newly founded support line, I would not buy just because the price is close. I think you would need some...

    Support and resistance..( help pls)

Cashmoney, I have attached what I would see as support and resistance levels. As stated by earlier posters, drawing and finding support and resistance is an artform and not an exact science. That is why you can see in the attached chart that I use support and resistance zones. Don't forget...
