in nyc trying to begin my career any ideas!?

With a graduate degree in Finance, he will have more upper mobility potential and future earnings ability working with OPM in an institutional/IB/Fund setting than arcade day trading.

You big swinging d***. I've always laughed when people complained to me about ICE and Nymex commissions and the tic size. You can make or lose alot more money trading a ten lot in Nymex than you can a fifty lot in the CBOT Notes. Literally. Seriously. I have got several guys with...

    CME Group: Dark Order Book

"But nothing stops MM from allowing inventory to become significantly imbalanced over time." This is where you are missing the point. Completely. His risk manager, his own capital reserves, the margin requirements to carry that imbalance - there is every incentive for MM's NOT to accumulate...

    CME Group: Dark Order Book

Dude, you know not what you speak. I started out trading as a market maker. Market makers have absolutely no interest in moving the market - that would make them speculators by definition and defeat the purpose of collecting the bid/ask spread. Consistently collecting a DECENT bid/ask spread...

    CME Group: Dark Order Book

"Trading is simply a very unfair battle between big money and the rest of us. Big money moves markets, etc. MM's have access to Big money." Pure unadulterated BS and naivety. What a steaming load of crap. Trading is an unfair game if the trader lacks the sophistication and knowledge to...

    CME Group: Dark Order Book

Scalpers and market makers have no idea what 'retail sentiment' is, and God knows they are not trying to exploit retail traders. A myriad of one lot orders from 'retail' speculators is of no concern to them - but a 500 lot eating into a 720 lot offer certainly get's their attention. They...

    Why isn't everybody selling options?

Having managed an OTC power and nat gas options book and traded with SIG and many others, I would disagree that big options traders or market makers are by design more 'net sellers' per se. Half of my clients are former options market-makers, and I know their business models well in terms of...

I have signed three ET members last week after extensive due diligence was completed, and I would like to take on two more clients. Anyone who is genuinely interested should PM me here on ET or email my website address link. About half of my new clients since January have been options traders...

The I'm sure there's a name for this spread and margins...

LME and Comex do not publish SPAN margin for intramarket spreads, so no can do. For that matter not many futures exchanges do. That makes it difficult to carry overnight, but should not discourage you from spreading intramarket. I do it all the time, but there is too much intraday...

I am using TT, how to gurantee fill at close with good execution?

Like Ellis said, FOK ( Globex even supports FAK for that matter ) might be one idea, but his statement "how do you "guarantee" that your 1000 contracts get filled, and at the settle price(or with more favorable costs)" leads me to believe that he still doesn't quite understand the question he...

Greece Considering Legal Action Against U.S. Banks for Crisis

Should dovetail nicely into POTUS Barack Hussein Obama's strategy for re-positioning the U.S.A. in the global community.

in nyc trying to begin my career any ideas!?

Good luck in your efforts, and I wish you well. You might want to get an alumnus list of contacts and their firms in NYC from your alma mater. Does your faculty have any acquaintances? I'm afraid that ET is populated primarily with trolls and bomb-throwers - unfortunately, no entry...

I am using TT, how to gurantee fill at close with good execution?

Ipso Facto the 'close' is settled after the market is officially 'closed' - and it can vary, many exchanges have published calculation procedures. In OTC markets, I have actually argued about the closing marks with the exchanges. You are never guaranteed anything in trading. No such...

TT Fix Adapter: 4thStory, SmartQuant, Strategy Runner

I have some automated trading strategies developed, and my thought is that TT already has a maximized trading ECN, including co-located servers. That plus I have been using it for 12 years and know the firm quite well.

What is the reason for IB to be trading?

Is it a known certainty that the registered broker/dealers in that population were filling customer AND proprietary order flow, or is that data segregated with a footnote that identifies the data set as proprietary accounts only? All of those firms have extensive prime and institutional...

Reuters names e-mini S&P ‘flash crash’ seller

    Number of lots per clip

So, you are currently trading one-lots, passively thinking about going to two lots, but want to consider moving to another market completely because you don't see very many 50 lots trade? 1. No offence intended, but you really are displaying a touch of naive braggadocio - you really do...

Agreed. Please post market calls in another thread. May I suggest a title: randomly buying into a seriously falling market.

I am using TT, how to gurantee fill at close with good execution?

I'm not sure what 'guaranteed fill' means unless you are willing to set very generous order fill parameters. TT is the best, and I have used it since 1998, but you will only get filled if the contracts are there for the taking.
