Hlp.Pls. Urgent! Which Data Feed Has True Fut. I.Bid/Ask Data?

Please clarify what you mean by "synchronized". Are you asking whether or not each record where volume > 0 also includes the bid/ask prices? http://www.iqfeed.net/index.cfm?displayaction=developer&section=main

Hlp.Pls. Urgent! Which Data Feed Has True Fut. I.Bid/Ask Data?

I'm using the NT real-time ver. 4.10 (build 38) and IQFeed client ver. 4.1.2.0. It was easy to set up, and I've had no problems at all (except for the second-stamp limitation mentioned previously).

Hlp.Pls. Urgent! Which Data Feed Has True Fut. I.Bid/Ask Data?

I use QuoteTracker for basic time charts and T&S, and Neoticker for a couple of my own indicators on constant volume charts. I'm also using Neoticker to develop some automated strategies. IQFeed works with both running simultaneously and doesn't miss a beat. Regards,

Hlp.Pls. Urgent! Which Data Feed Has True Fut. I.Bid/Ask Data?

I'm very happy with DTN/IQ's true-tick data feed and outstanding customer service; however, if you're using this data for system backtesting, an annoying omission is that the second stamp is not included. If you work with records that were not second-stamped upon arrival (in real-time) by your...

    IB - Backfill data problem

I tried using IB as my data provider for a while, and I finally gave up due to frequent and numerous holes in my backfilled charts. Since IB kicks you off every night, you're really at the mercy of their backfill quality (can't leave machine on 24/7).

Family has negative perception about trading

a5..., since we don't know your age, marital status, etc., a clarification might help. Are you talking about your spouse, or your parents/siblings? I wouldn't really care what the latter thought (unless you're unemployed and living in their basement); however, I think spouses do need to agree...

Family has negative perception about trading

As long as they're not paying your bills and you're not neglecting your spouse/kids, I think you can be content to agree to disagree with them about trading and do your thing.

    Why pay the spread too?

In forex brokers are also considered dealers, because when you make a trade they are taking the other side of that trade (which means they're earning the spread). Your broker has nothing to do with the spread on exchange traded products; that's determined by the cumulative bids/offers of...

    Stuff I've wondered about

Hopefully your paper trading to date includes risk management for your positions. Real or paper, it's not uncommon to have a good setup rapidly turn against you once you're in the trade. You must have a plan to deal with that exact scenario in order to protect your trading capital. If you're...

    Stuff I've wondered about

ETFs are equities, and as such they are taxed just like stocks. Alanm was referring to futures which have much better tax treatment than equities (ES, NQ, and YM are different equity index futures). Regardless of how long you hold a futures position, on gains you pay 60 percent long-term rates...

Any good call services out there?

If you don't disclose your system, I would think that you win by 1) Collecting the member fees; and 2) Getting a little more fuel behind your position as your members take the same side of the trade after you're already in (you could always close out to one of your apostles if you...

Is IB's Data Good Enough For Scalping?

I believe the T&S data for the IB simulated accounts is the same as a real account; however, the order book is run on a different server, so you will definitely see differences in the depth of market data (subset of real orders and other IB users' simulated orders). As a side note, after...

    Trading Bollinger Bands Volatility Breakouts

See if volume follows the breakout, especially large block orders. Expecting to pick the correct direction consistently and enter at the border of the breakout zone on the initial movement is not realistic. That's like consistently nailing tops and bottoms on reversals...

    Tightest bid/ask spreads

EuroFX futures on CME. They almost always have a one-tick spread, the spread is not too hard to overcome (relative to other one-tick spreads like ES or ZN), the tick value is good relative to the R/T commission (make one tick and you still put $7 in your pocket), and the volatility and volume...
