    Forex hedging journal

Like the previous poster said - you can as well trade eur/gbp - and NOT pay 2 spreads each time. Whatever you are doing, its not 'heding'.

Losses beyond what's in your account

Some dealers like Oanda explicitly state in their user agreement that you wont be liable for negative balances. There have been incidents where users did end up in the reds, and oanda reset their account to zero (there was a discussion on their forums about that). In my opinion, if you trade...

Question for the experienced FX traders

You will need atleast some programming experience, to preprocess/clean the tick-data (possibly clean out duplicate ticks which reduces file-size dramatically, and possibly convert UTC datetime to your local time - makes a difference because of DST, if your charting app cant deal with utc...

    Trailing stop differences

I dont know about FXCM, but MB trails the stop tick by tick, using the bid price for long positions and the ask for shorts. You can define the treshold/offset yourself.

    Day-Trading 2.0 for small traders

Its not easy, the OP himself stated an approach like this requires alot of experience and screentime to become good at.

charting software for Open ECry data feed?

OpenECry has a special offer for Neoticker, OEC customers pay $1000 instead of 1400 (if i remember correctly) for this software. I use neoticker my self (not with oec tho), and its a real good charting application (it does many more things than just charting too). The only caveat with nt is that...

Which service for E-minis and backtesting (for a programmer)

You could take a look at Neoticker. Its an open platform (datafeed and broker independent, you could even write your own interfaces to any firm that offers API-access you prefer). You can write indicators or trading systems using pretty much any language (.Net, c++, delphi, whatever you know)...

Well, it appears that the european and the american division handle commissions differently now, and the americans are a hell of a lot cheaper. p.s. Sry for off-topic

"Commissions: USD 3 per 100,000 USD transacted." ^^from the Hotspot FX Commercial Terms

    cax

Have you actually confirmed this? This would be... unusual, since everyone else is basing the commissions on the USD-value of the transaction.

    Best non bucket shop broker.

ssss: sorry, but thats not true. If HotspotFXr would hold against client-positions or conduct proprietary trading for themselfs, NFA would impose a risk haircut on their Net Capital Requirement, depending on the size of client/trading posititions. For example, Oanda, a marketmaker that...

    The Guinea Pig

I dont think the Hotspot EU retail prices are from FXi, they are the same like on the old platform that is still available on the american site.

    Best non bucket shop broker.

Dont use marketorders on ECNs, and especially not during news. I have seen 30+ pips spreads for a split-second, if you click into this mess, you might be in for a bad surprise. Also, while spreads might stay small during news, the price still can 'gap' alot, and you can experience big slippage...

Unregistered FX IB’s out and 20million cap FX FCM in

Interesting, thanks for the link. I guess in round two the list of registered FDMs will shrink quite a lot again. Does anyone understand what the paragraphs in section "SIGNIFICANT PRICE DISCOVERY CONTRACTS" mean?

Playback software that doesn't need a feed?

Neoticker can do that. You will need to get all tick and minute data from somewhere. They have an own backfill server, i dont know tho if it stores all data you need (i use eSignal). If you want to try it out, its better to purchase a licence for a month ($50), because with the demo you wont get...

    The Guinea Pig

I would agree. I will probably switch over to them. Financially sound firm, backed by Knight Capital. They also pay interest on unused funds. Commissions are a bit more expensive than IB ($30/mio), on the other hand they dont produce a neverending stream of horror-stories on the boards. More...

    FX charting on IB

Dont use the composite symbol (EUR A0-FX for example) with eSignal. For IB use a multibank platform feed like EUR@HOTS A0-FX (requires additional subscription for hotspot) or EUR@TDFX A0-FX . It will not be the same down to the tick but pretty close.
