How do you determine daily profit target?

How exactly would a monthly stop loss work though - like what happens if you hit it - you just go on vacation until the next month?

Is There Any Way This Can End Well?

Cocaine produces a sense of extreme joy by causing the brain to release higher than normal amounts of some biochemicals. However, cocaine's effects on other parts of the body can be very serious or even deadly. When cocaine use is stopped or when a binge ends, a crash follows almost...

Is There Any Way This Can End Well?

Debt is around 80% of GDP, post WWII was the only other time in history it was higher, so yes not unprecedented but close. Over 100% of GDP is usually the tipping point for banana republics, Greece is at 175%, etc. - debt has already risen from 10 to 18 trillion over the presidents term, 8 more...

How do you determine daily profit target?

I really don't want to lose more than 6 points or $300 in a day starting out, but that said if experienced traders think I should be down 12 points and keep trading then I'll give that a shot, just wanted opinions on the smart way to do go about that. As far as the daily profit target, yeah I...

Roth IRA - appreciate any insight into my financial future

United States national debt has doubled from 10 to 18 trillion in less than 8 years… within 8 more years of current spending America will have the debt to gdp of Greece. I would be wary of any designated retirement fund, its low hanging fruit for cash strapped governments, just ask the Polish...

Problem with trading 1 contract only

For trading 3 contracts, lets say the margin isn't a problem for you, but I've seen ES run $12 ($1800 @ 3 contracts) within 5-minutes, so my question is what sort of account equity do you think would be safe have when trading 3-contracts? like the $12 move in 5 minutes would be over 7% of a 25K...

Problem with trading 1 contract only

I don't get it though, the margin is only like 4K a contract, why not trade more?

Jim Rogers on the collapse of oil prices

Your right and in the agriculture sector Rogers definitely influenced it with his ETN and constant promotion of agriculture in the media; if you look at the largest agriculture ETF's many came post "Hot Commodities," for example the DBA ETF had an inception date of 2007.

Do large banks and institutions use TA to profit?

This would be my guess on Paul Tudor Jones. Correlation does not equal causation; just because he uses TA means very little when there are a million failed TA traders for every Tudor Jones…

Do large banks and institutions use TA to profit?

I have no conviction either way on TA, but I've tried finding studies to prove/disprove it, this is the abstract from a study titled "Technical Analysis Around the World" by Massey University New Zealand; Over 5,000 popular technical trading rules are not consistently profitable in the 49...

Do you count after hours data into your moving average?

Thanks, yes I found it detrimental to equities in just one very very quick look I had over a few days, but I can see how it can be helpful with futures as the market is active all night; just wanted to get everyones opinions to save myself from wasting time going down the wrong path here!

Do you count after hours data into your moving average?

What do you mean by this, running a tight stop or trading ES tight to an average?

Do you count after hours data into your moving average?

Thanks, I was kind of thinking this too - futures have so much more overnight participation that I can see why your using that data, compared to equities which are just dead after hours.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Well yeah, if you only raise rates to 1% generally your economy will not go into the toilet… the Bank of Canada is pegged to the dollar through its reserves anyway, so rates will never vary much from America, right now your at 75 basis points to the Fed's 50. It's not so much that raising rates...
