    Estimated Taxes questions

good cpa for traders = hard to find. i know green does it (you'll see his name mentioned on ET), there are others. oh! forgot one cool rule, which i think is what might be the "safe harbor" rule. roughly... if you make, let's say, 50k in 2009. and the next year, you make 200k...

    Estimated Taxes questions

i pay ES. i underpay during the first half of the year, because if you lose money, you can't then get it back from the government. if you underpay you'll have to pay interest on the underpaid part. congrats on your trading the first quarter, keep it up. you're supposed to pay...

Grinding it out, day after day

good luck recovering, don't let it get you down. you'll be back on your feet again, and when the larger stocks remember that they can go in three directions, instead of just up and sideways, the profits will come rolling back again. as a sidebar - i got beaten up on the first day of stocks...

    Retirement Account for Day Traders

if you make too much money, you can't put your money in a roth, only a traditional. as someone else stated, this year is a rollover from traditional to roth as long as you pay the taxes (either all in one year, or split over two years).

    Day Trading is a pipedream.

that would be you. the thread's title is "day trading is a pipedream". i've done it, others do it as well. anyhow, i'm off to the city. it's my day off, and i'm going to enjoy it. if you wish to keep believing that no one can daytrade, go right ahead.

    Want opinion on collective2

says more about your broker. probably clears through penson, who generally won't allow shorting under $5 stocks (note GENERALLY). also, people with big % gainers usually do it in stocks/setups which don't allow many people to follow the same strategy with any size. one salesman had a...

    Day trading article on nytimes.com

i wish someone had told me this before i started daytrading for a living... 10+ years ago. *cough cough* dustin - i was fortunate to start my little nest egg in the late 90s, and solely because of the bull. trading @my workplace, i would do all kinds of somewhat silly things that were...

    nyt, daytraders 2.0

daytrader still = buy and sell in the same day. well, HFT is definitely daytrading, although the people who do it wouldn't call it that. and don't forget, there were hundreds of articles during the start of the internet bust talking about "daytraders" who bought a stock, and didn't sell it...

    nyt, daytraders 2.0

interesting stuff from the article: the person who they follow makes 100-120k / yr for much of the past 10 years, charges $199/month for his website. i haven't checked out the website or others mentioned in there, maybe others can. my other thoughts: if this is the guy the NYT focused on...
