    IMHO there is a difference between "no stop" and "a wide stop" --- the former can be a dagger through the heart on a bad day -- the latter is almost a necessity the way the markets are moving at the moment

    This is key - I have discovered aspects of it for myself I make fewer than 10 trades a day - and generally place positions out in advance of the current market action If the action comes my way - then the setups are hit If the action moves away ---- then my setups never get hit and I move on...

    I just started day trading. Learning from books. And posts here. Several books Ive read mentioned the general trading population on ES is more sophisticated and has more experience than traders on YM So I am starting on 'the bunny hill' to use a skiing analogy

    Yup - the fist sample I looked at was the daily chart for jan looking at it for 6 months its much closer to 150k

    Ahhh - you are a much bigger fish than me! Thanks I probably need to rephrase the question though ---- Since average daily volume is ~ 325K contracts and most people are trading a certain # of contracts repeatedly during a given day ----- how many total players are actually out there?
