Looking for a historical list of important news events

perhaps it would be more worthwhile for you to research this information on your own, and hold onto this compiled information for yourself! markets aren't open on weekends, so when you're not trading, why not invest your time in your own quality services instead of throwing your money away to...

Yes , the WSJ reports that Stock777 was right, yet again.

why not? there are many retail brokers who use colocation services, such as speedtrader and choice trade. they open accounts for anyone off the street! collocation services are available to everyone, if they know what they're looking for.

    ECN Level III Book View

Yes, this is what I noticed too. Is Level 3 only available from NASDAQ or also from NYSE? Idk if "Level 3" is just not an easy to google phrase or if there's just no information available outside the institutional world?

    ECN Level III Book View

i can't find any official information about level 3, but it looks like you can only access it if you are a NASD member firm. it seems just like a combination of level 2 data for some other order flow information. if there were specifics on it, it might be possible to create it yourself, but i...

Yes , the WSJ reports that Stock777 was right, yet again.

the problem isn't HFT itself, the problem is who it is used by. think of it this way: is the problem in the us the constitutionally bound government or is it the politicians who ignore the constitution?

Looking for a historical list of important news events

"Important news events" are often important in hindsight, perhaps it would not be useful to skip over those times when back testing.

    Sterling Trader Pro & Esignal

hmm, but actually, that still means you're not collocated, although a direct feed may have the same low latency as collocation?

    Penson

a firm's stock price has nothing to do with the integrity of their operations. the lower price reflects lower confidence in their company, but who knows what that confidence is based on?

direct market access is not the same as being collocated; you can have dma without being collocated. i'm not sure if lightspeed is collocated, but their website highlights the fact that they were rated by barrons 2012, which was a completely inconsistent assessment of big names in the...

    Sterling Trader Pro & Esignal

broad street uses das trader pro, which is colocated at nasdaq, so the execution will be a bit faster. for a retail firm, if you want to use an offshore broker dealer, i would recommend alliancetrader.com, they're far more trustable than other options out there.

    Sterling Trader Pro & Esignal

esiginal uses a third party for market data, their machines are not located at the exchanges, which would lower their latency. sterling also does not have their servers at any of the exchanges, so their order execution will be a bit slower than a software who does have their servers at nasdaq...

    Sterling Trader Pro & Esignal

neither esignal or sterling trader are colocated, so if you are scalping, they are not the way to go.

Barron's annual broker survey officially turns into a joke

yes, i think random people reviewed each broker and then someone else compiled it, so there's no calibration in the way each broker was judged. if this is not the case, those firms probably paid the author of the surey.
