    Commodity Prices Threaten Economic Recovery

It must be the speculators' fault. I'm sure it has nothing to do with a ten-fold increase in the US money supply.:)

How to move and securely store gold overseas

I receive a free newsletter from Simon Black at sovereignman.com that sometimes has some very interesting and helpful information. Here is a PDF I received today about moving and storing gold overseas for anyone who has considered doing so: http://www.sovereignman.com/gold%20report%202010.pdf

Anyone tried Cryptohippie to mask your IP address while surfing the internet?

Have you used it? Being a non-profit organization whose service is free and used by law-enforcement, journalists, etc. sounds good. But I am concerned that the "volunteers" who bounce my signal around the globe could be anyone, including hackers.

Anyone tried Cryptohippie to mask your IP address while surfing the internet?

Because when I try to open it, my anti-virus software says it is a dangerous website.

Anyone tried Cryptohippie to mask your IP address while surfing the internet?

I have read that there is a record somewhere of what websites I visit, what I write in my e-mail, my ET posts, etc. The only obvious evidence of this being done is pop-up advertisements from companies that know what city I live in. Everything I do is honest and legal, but it still makes me...

    Mozy vs Carbonite

I have used Mozy for over a year without problems. However, I have never had to restore data and I share the previously mentioned concerns about my data being stored somewhere else. I signed up with carbonite prior to Mozy, but could never get it to work. I tried contacting carbonite multiple...

Best ETF if you believe govt' yields must rise?

Avoiding leverage with TBF is a good idea. Bonds could be quite volatile in 2010.

Best ETF if you believe govt' yields must rise?

I agree with your economic forecast. However, bonds are oversold right now with bullish divergence on stochastics and price is moving up. The COT report also indicates that the commercial traders have been getting progressively more long in recent weeks. Ideally, I would like to see bonds...

    agriculture for inflation?

Agreed, although 2 weeks ago would have been an even better time to buy silver if you didn't already have some. Silver is a much better value than gold right now and will be in very high demand if people lose faith in paper currencies. Just call several local coin shops and ask how much over...

    agriculture for inflation?

I agree that we are in scary economic times and a financial catastrophe is possible at any time which could suddenly lead to a devalued or worthless US dollar. However, I am not quite ready to sell my house, move out to the country and put all of my financial assets into bullion just yet...

    America sliding deeper into depression

It is fascinating to read about the US in a foreign newspaper. You don't often get brutal honesty like that in a major US paper. At least the author is willing to admit that Europe is in worse shape, though.

Sweet Deal: Time to Short Sugar

I agree with your first paragraph, but those of us who successfully use the COT report for trading decisions would strongly disagree with your second paragraph.

Here is the weekly chart showing that the commercial traders are more short than in the last 5 months, stochastic is overbought and the shooting star:

Sweet Deal: Time to Short Sugar

The seasonal tendency is sideways to down through April: http://mrci.com/client/seapat/sb//sbk012.pdf The COT commercial index indicates that the commercial traders are more short than they have been in the last 5 months. The weekly stochastic reading is overbought and there is a shooting...

it really is game over, science fiction becomes fact

No problem... I'm always looking for an opportunity to use funny smilies. I do hope to get some more opinions on our economic future, though. ET posters often come up with some fascinating insights. If more countries continue to have worse financial problems than the US, you may be correct in...

it really is game over, science fiction becomes fact

The US is bankrupt and the only way our government knows how to solve any problem is to spend more of our money, even when they do not have it. The magnitude of our national debt ($12 trillion), addition social program obligations (social security, medicare, unemployment insurance, bailouts...

it really is game over, science fiction becomes fact

Bingo. Bush's initial $700 billion bank bail-out plan in October of 2008 in response to the financial crisis was purely a reflexive response to ensure that the next great depression did not begin on his watch. However, when Obama got in office, it became apparent that there was no way...

    Technical Analysis of Gold

Looks interesting. The colored icons on the price chart appear to indicate pivots (HH,LH,LL, LH). Is that correct? Is there a way that you use volume or some other method to determine which price pivots signal major turning points? What type of statistical analysis are you referring to? Would...
