1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

That article referred to at barackobama.com is closed for comments, too. This is starting to piss me off. No way to criticize these ideas! This worries me less for the fact that I won't be able to trade anymore, more for the fact that it will result in a lot of industries practically going...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Since that article is no longer accepting comments, what is the best way to make noise against this? I just can't believe the writers of these articles don't realize how many lost jobs and lost foreign revenue this would mean. In addition, if the markets moved elsewhere, it would encourage...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Someone needs to make the point that this industry is one of our biggest exports in that it brings in foreign money.

Most number of days up or down

Can't find that blog post I found before (maybe I didn't post it after all), but I found this article on consecutive up days in the Dow. The most is 13. It gives statistics on as few as 5 up days in a row: http://www.stockhouse.com/Blogs/ViewDetailedPost.aspx?p=17788

Most number of days up or down

There was a thread where we discussed this a while back. I found a blog post discussing it with some numbers. I'll look back through my old posts and see if I can find it again.

The US Must Become An E-Nation

Same thing I've been wondering lately LOL. One solution is to reduce the number of hours we all work and to tax the owners of the machines that make what we use. I definitely would love the reduced # of working hours part, but I'm not sure the tax part is fair.

dareminator, ZB is the 30-year treasury bond. The theoretical maximum is a lot more than you proposed. I got around 280.

Too broke to get a divorce?

Why not take it a step further and don't even get married until you're sure about these things? And, make sure that the two of you agree on if you'll have kids, how many, where you'll live, make sure your careers are somewhat compatible, etc. I'm always amazed at people who find all these...

The mother of all shorts is building: 30-year T-Bond

I thought you plugged in 6 percent for the coupon rate? http://www.cbot.com/cbot/pub/cont_detail/0,3206,1526+14431,00.html "The conversion factor is the price of the delivered bond ($1 par value) to yield 6 percent."

Fed in the market buying agencies

Actually, Zimbabwe exports more than it imports. I think that's probably part of the reason their stock market was able to return a better percentage than their *HUGE* inflation rate. If you had your money in the stock market there in an index fund, you actually came out ahead. The US...

The Endgame Is Getting Nearer: Beginning in a boom in financials.

A couple of things I see wrong with what you're saying (although you make good points!): the inventory controlled by Fannie and Freddie aren't in the control of banks, and also, keeping houses on the books of a company isn't a free proposition, there are property taxes to be paid. In Texas...
