    Trading IRA vs. Regular Account

Also, a lot of brokerages severely limit the types of options trading you can do in an IRA, even if it is a "safe" strategy that wouldn't involve loss of additional capital (cash-covered puts for instance are not allowed at a lot of brokerages). Think or Swim is the one I've found with the...

Odds Czar: Simple Biases In the Futures Market: 2008

Art, could you explain a little more about how you traded this system to get the results you posted? Did you just sell at the beginning of the day if there was any negative bias calculated, and buy if there was any positive bias? Or, did you have a threshold value that would trigger a trade?

Foreclosures Rise 158% from May 2007

Agree, people were stupid, but I think that even more than that, we've been conditioned to not trust ourselves for so long that you're almost not allowed to be smart. Everyone is always advised to listen to "experts" because they are "trained" and they "know." All the experts think renting is...

    Trader P/L 2008

Aww, uptik, cute kid. Here's my double motivation :) Red Ink, sorry for the day :( . I know how it feels, I had 2 about that size in a row before I started posted here, mine was totally my own fault though, loss of discipline. From the looks of your other blotters (why's it called that?)...

    Trader P/L 2008

Couldn't get my head in the game this morning, so it was just a lot of small wins, got it together early afternoon, then my mind started drifting again at about 2:30 ET. Good day. +2852

    Anybody trade from their patio?

Haha, yes, that probably would help. I was under my patio umbrella, but the Texas sun is brutal.

    Anybody trade from their patio?

How do you keep the glare from making it impossible to see if you use a laptop? I've tried it, but it's just too hard to see my screen. Got any recommendations for a laptop with a really bright screen? Also, anyone have one of the Sprint mobile wireless cards? How reliable are those...

What's your average monthly trading profit? and since when?

No, I haven't automated anything yet. There are quite a few people on here who have, though. So, it can be done and is still a future goal. My husband likes fiddling with it all, too. He's got the job with the constant money flow, though, so he's got to stick with that for the time being...

What's your average monthly trading profit? and since when?

I haven't been at it long enough to really say, that's part of the reason I'm posting on the P/L thread, to keep myself honest. It's an incentive to keep disciplined along with the $$ I know I'll eventually lose when I lose discipline. I know I've been registered here for a while, but I got...

    Trader P/L 2008

I'm done for the day. I'm out of patience, have a short bug still, and the market is currently slow and moving up, not a good combo for me usually. Ending the week on a good note. +2561 for the day +4454 for the week +5710 for the year

    Maintaining discipline

Having discipline problems myself (not today but in general). Enjoying reading the thread. Thanks for starting it. There was a blog post posted early on in the thread about things to help your self-control. After reading it, I've forced myself to eat or at least drink something during the...

List of 5 Traders Worth Studying

IMO, Zanger did it right. Made enough money to really enjoy life, and now he's doing just that, enjoying life. From the blurb on him, my bet is he dabbles enough now to keep his interest in the market satisfied but not enough to risk his capital for living the good life. Personally, I don't...

    Trader P/L 2008

Haven't reported here in a few days. Got busy with family stuff. Tuesday was a bad day. Did some undisciplined trading and lost because of it. Wednesday had lost confidence in myself, so only did a small bit of trading. Stayed disciplined today and did some good trading, so I made up the...

    Today's retail sales report

What are your thoughts? Here are mine. Retail sales report doesn't account for inflation. Plus, there were the stimulus checks. I'm not so sure the report is really as positive as the market is making it out to be. Also wonder if the stimulus checks were all part of the grand plan, since...

    Trader P/L 2008

My baby's up from his nap, so I'm done whether I want to be or not. +1736 for the day, and feeling good about it since I remained disciplined. Would have made more if I could have gotten the shorting out of my head, though.

is this how to make money?

Whatever it is, I do agree it's a tell. Seems to happen a lot on the individual stocks, too. Probably would be worth writing some code to look for that kind of thing. My husband has been itching to help me trade some, maybe I'll get him working on that. What a strang "honey do" list I have :p

is this how to make money?

I think of it more like a quick liquidity test. Testing where the bottom or the top is going to be for the next quick move. Trade through all the little orders for a second to see where the big money is parked. I could be way off, but that's what makes sense to me.
