India is banning futures trading on various ag futures

What nonsense. In the futures markets there has to be someone on the short side of every long contract and the shorts help keep prices in line. In a pure cash market there is no practical way to short so prices can reach even higher peak levels than in a futures market. The lack of an active...

PE of 87.07 for Dow Jones Industrial in this week's Barrons

The Wall Street Journal (the expert source for the Dow) has the trailing PE for the Dow at 87.34 and the forward PE at 14.29. The high trailing PE is because of huge losses at GM and AIG. Also the trailing PE for the S&P is given as 23.80 and the forward PE at 15.51.

Congress to have a hearing on commodity index funds and speculators

The spot you are quoting was for a different type of wheat than the futures. The 3 futures exchanges trade 3 different types of wheat. MGEX - hard red spring, KC - hard red winter and CBOT - soft red winter. When MGEX wheat was over $24.00 CBOT wheat didn't even get to $14.00.

IRA margin account at IB: Still have to wait 3 days to settle?

As long as you have at least $25,000 in your IRA account to avoid the PDT rules for equities you don't have to wait 3 days to settle. For futures you don't even need the $25,000, as there are no PDT rules.

    What's the point in a S&P pit?

The traders in the S&P pit make money trading in the pit. If they couldn't make money the pit would go away.

    TradePortal Futures

The money is held by the FCM (Transact) and their clearing firm (Goldman Sachs). Why deal with an IB when you can deal direct with the FCM? What is TradePortal going to do for you that can't be done by going directly with Transact?

    TradePortal Futures

    ER2 on ICE

Yes, that is correct. For only 1 GBP a month IB should just include the ICE/NYBOT data feed with the US Securities & Commodities Non-Professional Bundle, but they don't listen to my suggestions. IB customers have to be doing decent daily volume on ER2 contracts and most will be looking to...

Are there strategies based on divergencies on the S&P, Dow Jones and Nasdaq 100?

Today DJIA up 0.73%, SPX up 1.06%, NDX up 1.70% and RUT up 0.99%. Only traders that have done the analysis and really know what they are doing trade index futures spreads.

    S&P E-Mini Order Question

Looking at ES T&S I just saw 521 and 356 contracts go by. Depending on the inside bid/ask size an order of 100 to 500 contacts can be done instantly without slippage past the 1 tick bid/offer spread.

    Help !!!!

Ameritrade isn't your only problem. I've never heard of a new trader making money by engaging in "high volume buying fast buying and selling". Even a low cost direct access broker like IB won't save you from yourself.
