    Interactive Brokers Data Fee?

It says right on the "Market Data, Fundamental Analysis and News Subscriptions" page: "8. Trading accounts with less than USD 500 (or USD equivalent) in equity will have their market data turned off. "

Who are the Commercial Traders in the CFTC Commitment of Traders report?

Traders doing index arbitrage would be considered to be commercial traders

    option arbitrage....examples ?

I would think that the computerized market making firms removed the option arbitrage opportunities long ago. Maybe there are some arbitrage opportunities in the exotic options.

Anybody trading 100+ SPX options per order

You won't get a fill on your limit order until the market moves against you and the market makers can make a profit.

    tax stimulus checks

I'm last on the mailing list so I don't get mine until middle of July. The damn $600 will just cover part of the quarterly tax check I had to send on June 15th.

Anybody trading 100+ SPX options per order

ES is $50 a point, but the dollar value per point does not matter. A 15.75/16.25 spread is always better than a 15.00/17.00 spread.

Medium Term- Index Futures vs. Stock Basket

For long postions index futures are better for holding periods less than 1 year due to lower cost of carry and taxes. Holding periods of more than 1 year favor the stock basket due to lower long term capital gains taxes. For short postions index futures are better for all holding periods due...

    IB TWS alternative

All TWS frontends need to have TWS running in order to use the API. Here are 2 free ones that have charts and trading. QuoteTracker can be set up to trade through TWS. http://www.quotetracker.com/help/ib.shtml QuoteTrader can be set up to trade through TWS...

IB no interest on first 10K rule, what do you do with the money?

How do you manage to come up with nonsense like this? IB uses the interest earned on the first $10k to cover fixed costs such as general account overhead and the "free" data feeds. IB is in business to make a profit and you are free to take your business elsewhere if no interest on the...

    Solid Mom's Journal

I use Interactive Brokers as my primary broker for futures and they work fine for stocks and options. IB also pays interest on the account balance over $10,000 while almost all other futures brokers pay zero. If you can handle 1000 shares of SPY you can handle the equivalent 2 ES contracts...

    Solid Mom's Journal

I second this. Trading ES and NQ futures is the way to go. 60/40 tax treatment and simple year end tax forms (single gain/loss number on Form 1099B to Form 6781 to Schedule D). Trading ES and NQ on Globex gives you a single central marketplace with no specialist/market maker/ECN tricks/problems.

Beat the Market: A Scientific Stock Market System

"Beat the Market" isn't worth $5 let alone $800. The book is from 1967 and any decent public library used to have the book. Most of the public libraries probably tossed the book because no one took the book out. Basic idea of the book was to buy a stock that had warrants and short the...

Is this possible with an ES option assignment?

The quarterly ES futures and options contracts settle in cash. So a June ES put sold at the 1300 strike with index expiration at 1275 would result in a $1250 debit to your account and no position. If you sold a July ES put at the 1300 strike and the September future was below 1300 at July...
