    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

No trades yesterday. Traded the ESTX50 for a change today - good entry but got out after 20 minutes (4 bars) - missed another 20 pt run, grrr. I think I should have reentered on the 5:15 bar. 2 contracts with one target at +5, one runner. pretzel

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

You can choose either the STP or STPLMT for the trigger - its in the settings - and your preference will be "remembered" for each symbol. I dont know but I havent had a problem with ESTX or YM yet with BT - probably its because I dont use the "new" features they are putting in their newer...

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

This is a good example of the homerun vs batting average dilemna. Doesnt matter if your entry signals are good - but I prefer to get the same 15 pts sooner. I'm already a convert from a pullback trader to a BO trader. There was another long BO signal later (good for 20 pts) but there was...

POLL: Are you a home run champ or a batting average champ?

If you have an original system with a target of 10 points (the low probability homerun) and you're stopped out, chances are the market will go at least a little way in your direction first (the high probability scalp) before reversing and stopping out. Using the same system, if trade another...

POLL: Are you a home run champ or a batting average champ?

You can have both, just do multiple contracts with the last contract a "runner" for the home run. pretzel

    IB fill reporting DELAYED

Thanks again to everybody who answered. I think my problem is that I was not aware I had a problem at that time (because that was the first time it happened to me). Now I'm wiser. So, the lesson - when in doubt, bring up the Live Rep chat. Sorry, def, about this. I was pissed off at...

how to manage false breakouts on NQ ES

how to manage false breakouts on NQ ES

I must have missed that IB bulletin. As for losing the code in a crash, that's one thing I want to forget. I'm just doing mini-BT's right now - http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=257206&highlight=frontend#post257206 - this can handle multiple targets and fancy stop...

how to manage false breakouts on NQ ES

FT, You're right. It's easier to eyeball the pattern. IMO, the ff are not easy to code? 1. there should be a pullback of x number of bars after a pivot before a BO entry occurs (no chasing if the next bar BO's from the first pivot) 2. the BO may occur after x number of bars - so how far...

how to manage false breakouts on NQ ES

Thanks for the info on EUREX - I didnt know about the 50 cents charge. I'll have to tweak my BT to do less stop changes. I'm not sure but I think 15 pts is too big a target for a single contract. I think the MAE/MFE analysis from WL may help in determining targets for multiple contracts...
