What's the theory behind the Fibonacci strategy (if any)?

If WWIII is a war bent on the total annihilation of mankind and the planet, then yes absolutely. Otherwise, probably not. Nuclear weapons don't have many practical applications anymore.. The downsides completely outway any potential benefits.

You know, I'll give it to you. I did ignore all of these underlying aspects. I guess I'd just like to believe that the biggest scam of the century that I can do nothing about, but which will effect me for years to come, isn't as bad as it's being made out to be.

I like how everyone ignores the fact that most of the banks the government lent money too have already paid it back with interest.
