Nice entry! A bit more agressive than I am, I think. I was watching that thing all morning, ever since it shot up $1 in the first 15 minutes on relatively heavy volume. I held off taking any positions until it shook out a bit and am long at 33.95. Also took a small position in COGO at...

LMIA failed to maintain rank so I've taken it off my list. Good luck if you're in a trade.

    Best Prop firm for Canadians?

Yup. That's also why Contracts For Difference have proliferated.

Is this silly or what. am I supposed to help an automator to put me out of work?

If you ever nail down a strategy well enough that you can specify all (or most) of the parameters, then you can automate it. This will let you expand the number of stocks, increase your number of trades, increase your response time, and ensure you are sticking with your trading rules. Once...

Gooch87, Thanks for your reply. Right now, I'm allowing for a maximum of 1% loss (of my total account) per trade, and may move up from there after several months of success. What I was wondering about was: So it looks like you have the same take as I do, that a 5% loss is the max loss...

Will an AI course help me with trading?

Is this AI or data mining, or maybe unrelated to computers and just quant analysis? Looking over the subjects that this person listed, I don't see anything that would directly help him trade. I imagine some sort of database class which covers data mining would be helpful. Better yet, take...

Will an AI course help me with trading?

Take the AI course because you want to learn about how computers work, and how to program some very cool things. But as you'll learn, the term "Artificial Intelligence" is grossly misleading. It is basically a term which allows efficient searching over a problem domain, but all of the...

Hey Hershey team, I was doing some musing about the Risk/Reward ratio in this system, and I realized that I had one sticky problem: I am having a very hard time defining the risk! By using Ross's Rule (or what I understand of it), on the day of entry, we are accepting a 2% loss. After...

I suppose I have motivation to answer "not a mistake" since I didn't take a position, so take this with a grain of salt :) I'm just finishing a book on poker which has a lot of relevance to trading. The author says that the way to know if you made the right call is not whether or not you...

There is the fibonacci retracement tool (labeled just "Retracement") which includes a 50% retracement line. I used to used that all the time when I was day trading, and was a big part of the reason that I paid for QCharts in the first place.

Of course, I had no way of knowing that volume would die off as dramatically as this. But when volume shoots up to 35% of average daily volume in 20 minutes, especially as it was just in dryup. I didn't know what was going on, so I stayed away. Based on your experience over the last few...

Very insightful, thank you. I hadn't looked at it this way. I will say that, based on my understanding of the method, I am looking for circumstances where we get a rush of volume into a stock which indicates the beginning of a new trend and a lot of follow-on volume. With FTEK, the biggest...

Been watching FTEK bust up for 10 minutes now. It has run up .25 from when I first thought "I should buy some, but it has gone up *so much*" :) Spydertrader, do you jump onto stocks that take off so fast, or do you wait for pullbacks?

Is anyone catching this spike on SMSI? I would be a buyer when it cracked 14.40 on high volume, but this is absurd.

Sing it with me, brother. After trading, I take a run and grab some food and think about the day. I can come back and clearly articulate exactly what I did wrong, and what I did right. I'm still making mistakes, but at least they're always different mistakes, and each mistake costs me...

Spydertrader & others, I've been trying to take some trades in the Bruno-R setups using small size to get the feel of things. I've been looking for a time when the stock looks to break out of its channel, and the 30 minute chart has the stochastics > 80 and MACD > 0. It hasn't always been...

Yes, I took ANDE, OMNI and TIE. I couldn't get any shorts on MGPI so I didn't take that trade, but I did get its signal. The volume was heavy in the early trading, but dried up quickly, so I was out of all positions before noon, taking a wash or small profit in each. Missed CHAP...

    Best Prop firm for Canadians?

I used them for a while and liked them. There were some things I didn't like about the trading platform (like you couldn't have bids and offers open at the same time on the same stock), but apart from that it was a good platform.
