    Trading Futures in a 401K

Anybody know what kind of margin requirements there are for something like ES or MES in an IRA with futures available? I read on IB's website it says Futures trading in an IRA margin account is subject to substantially higher margin requirements than in a non-IRA margin account. Margin rates...

    Everything's correlated? :(

As far as I know, you are trading a basket to obtain risk off delta but reduce individual asset adverse price movement (counter trend movement to risk off trend direction). Your short side is not strongly (>97.5%) correlated enough to the long side for my tastes is what I mean. You are...

    Everything's correlated? :(

I'd rather lever the piss out of a spread using 95% negatively correlated instruments so that I can absorb risk and leg out into vol spikes. But that's just me!

Throwing in the Towel on US Equities? UBS or Credit Suisse Could Be Next…

HFT is a race to the bottom. It's kind of like bitcoin mining. The market is becoming much more efficient across equity assets. When success or failure is a matter of microseconds, and each successive improvement in performance comes at an exponentially higher infrastructure cost...

    What were your lowest moments?

I stopped trading after I lost ~600 dollars in one stretch. I was scalping EUR/USD and GBP/USD with OANDA. At the time there was a lot of volatility happening in the Swiss Franc. The action in the frank was affecting every pair in unpredictable ways. I decided that there was just too much...

    What were your lowest moments?

I'll give you a simple story. Saved up $10,000 and started trading FX. This was a series of compromises due to the usual suspects (underfunded, time constraints, not enough knowledge). In other words, I didn't want to trade FX but decided that I had no choice because I needed leverage to make...

    MNQU19 Vs. MNQZ19

No. MNQZ is also called the Christmas contract by traders. It's not the same as the September contract. There is no exchange rule against holding opposing positions in the two. This is very common in other products, e.g. softs, metals, rates.

    MNQU19 Vs. MNQZ19

Wow. The difference is arbitraged against dividend, financing rates and capital efficiency. This is a time spread (also known as a calendar or a diagonal spread). There will be no edge in a trade like this for you. The reason spreads are wider in the differed month contracts is because...

    Time to sell ZB?

The yield on 30 year is at a near all time low. 8/28/19 is the all time low on charts I'm seeing. I was referring to position trading if low is retested next week. Thanks.

    Time to sell ZB?

Is this bond rally going to continue into next week? Should we be looking to get short the 30 year?

    Trading Futures in a 401K

Thanks guys. I'm actually starting to warm up to the idea of putting a few grand in the 401(k) if I can then roll it into a Self Directed IRA with these products available.

Would Forex Brokers restrict traders who win 100% or 300% a year?

Listen, I am not trying to argue with you about which instrument is more liquid. I said that "there is not much ability to cross hedge" in cash fx and I assumed that FX trader is probably trading with marked up spreads because he is getting 300:1 from the aussie broker (and he only has 50k USD)...

Would Forex Brokers restrict traders who win 100% or 300% a year?

Actually, sovereign debt is a cash equivalent. There is more debt than their is currency. Much more. The bonds are not derivative they are the fundamental asset. When I said the spreads are wide it is because the RETAIL FX shop is MARKING UP THE SPREADS! I'm not mistaken here.

    Trading Futures in a 401K

Hmm. I'm looking on their website but they aren't talking about index futures :vomit:. I think I found it, Self-Directed IRA. This is what I had heard of. Thanks!

Would Forex Brokers restrict traders who win 100% or 300% a year?

The real problem with cash FX is that there is not much ability to cross hedge and the spreads are wide. I remember wanting to daytrade the exotics and the spreads were just so prohibitive that I was forced into trading the majors. The problem I have with the whole thing is that the market...

How about a good online stock screener recommendation?

Yea the site is impressive. It's really cool that it has average daily volatility. My only problem is that it takes a lot of margin to play with all of the opportunities. Regulation T requires like 50% cash against short stock positions and 25% cash against longs intraday. Just one good...

    Trading Futures in a 401K

Hi guys. I have a company 401(k) at T-Rowe Price that is starting to show a balance of about $6000. My question is this: When I quit my job and the vested amount (let's call it $7,000) is released from the company investment scheme, is it realistic to have this transferred to a U.S. broker...

    Serious Question

Perhaps I should revise the profit estimates for my more discerning colleagues. Back of the envelope estimates I had done (nothing rigorous mind you) had my trading netting roughly 1.5~2% on NOTIONAL EXPOSURE. This was not that hard to do after a while. For what it's worth I'm posting a...
