Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

I agree. Of all the forums, ET is the one I credit the most on the web. The whole point of a forum is to have a discussion. This means that idiots can and do serve a purpose here. I'm starting to think you are right about this guy lentus. If he doesn't start talking trading then I'm gonna...

Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

I used to read The Economist and Futures Magazine a lot. Futures Magazine is probably a good bet if you want intelligent media. LOL @gaussian. The guy is actually pretty smart as far as I can remember from his comments in other threads.

Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

Yea, good traders don't waste time on BS, and they teach themselves how to sniff it out. Most of these guys would fail a simple quiz on basic financial concepts. It's challenging. Honestly, I'm looking for the same thing as you. But, not sure what to do about it. The guys on these forums that...

Where to meet high-IQ traders and investors?

There is a couple on here, but most of them lose interest in this forum. Trading is so fragmented and requires so much specialization that it naturally divides us. Trader is such a diverse group that it is almost too vague of a description. Also, everybody has different reasons for...

    Time to sell ZB?

I figured this would be a sure thing. The yield was lower than I have ever seen in my life. I don't swing or position trade really, but I'm interested to see what bond traders would say about a common sense trade idea. I am specializing in the index futures, and work too much to trade full...

    DOM

Because the PREM can't be changed without trading through or moving the bids/offers. The QUANTS are running the show now man. QUANTS are using 'optimal queue positioning' HFT algorithms to adjust and manage the PREM. This is what is creating the DOM.

    DOM

The pro's are using the PREM and also they will size into a spread that will move the index at the most convenient times...too easy really. Retail is clueless.

    Index Spread Traders

Hi. If you look at the chart again under the symbol entry field, it says the expression that defines the spread. It is 40*/NQ-15*/YM which is long 2 E-Mini Nasdaq and short 3 Mini Dow. The chart is the differential of the contract notional values. (arithmetic difference) The contract...

    Arbitrage back-testing charting package

No idea friend. I just use it to chart and analyze spreads of all kinds. However, I had to outsource the lions share of that task to ThinkScript because I don't know how to do custom studies or scripts with TWS or the API. You'll have to research those functionalities. This might help.

The all-in-One trading terminal for Stocks, possible Bloomberg Terminal alternative

Could it compete on cost with all of those alternatives? Many are free, and many more are very inexpensive. There are significant ongoing expenses involved with such a service as Bloomberg Terminal.

Tell me why averaging down is a bad idea .

I will leave a comment on averaging down. (1) In order for your average price to follow closely to the new level that you are adding to the position, you have to increase your position aggressively. Perhaps even tripling size with each addition! (2) In many cases, it is probably better to...

    Serious Question

Hi, like I said, I am working too much lately to trade. The only hours that I have free: pre-market, open, go to work at 11:30 AM (work lasts 12 to 14 hours) Mon-Thurs all day free Friday, Sat, Sun so you can see that I have serious time conflicts with RTH. As a result have been reluctant...

    Serious Question

I know that the practice has made me a much better trader. There are things that you just have to know. For example, at the end of the week the market gets thin, which can cause fast moves (and reversal). Also, watching the book a lot (100s of hours) is pretty much required. Let's say your...

    Serious Question

There is a massive informational asymmetry going on in the E-Minis. Retail can't tell what is driving price and so they just react to price/volume/quote stats whatever. As far as I can tell, traders don't understand the new dynamics. Either that or they are not adapting.

    Serious Question

I'm not bragging, if you read OP it says what would you do with a (good) edge. I didn't think it would just be a bunch of guys talking shit but that's what happened.

    Serious Question

Oh. I'm not trying to call you out man. You said you have sim results and I got interested. I'm not trying to brag or show off here. I respect you because you do trade futures man. I have been watching the market action and it is crazy lately. Up days, down days, chop, swings, reversals...

    Serious Question

In fact, I'd like to see you trade 200 times in a day and not go broke. Also, on a risk adjusted basis your returns are worse. You were levered 250:1 on that trade and abusing margin reductions.
  19. Real Money

    Serious Question

Actually, your wrong my sim trading was 225 round trips. You just got lucky on one trade. I would say that my results are more impressive. Maybe if you did at least 10 trades like that I would say you're good.

    Serious Question

I've only traded small money live on FX. I am still building quant systems. I'm a math/stats genius. But, trading is my little pet project, my favorite game. I have respect for everyone who trades, but there is no shame in waiting until you are in the strongest possible financial position...
