    Stop for covered call

What is the best way to put a stop on a covered call assuming that you are not monitoring the trade in real time? If you place an order to sell the stock if it falls below a certain level then you would be left with a naked call. Alternatively putting a stop order on the call might result...

Winning 20% yearly on a covered call portfolio

If you use IB the cost of buying shares is $.01/share and options $1/contract. The cost of commission on buying 100 shares and selling 1 call against them would be $2. The bid/ask spread on shares is perhaps 1.5% and options perhaps 3%. If you roll up the options a lot that could eat into...

    pcquote.com

Doesn't seem to make any difference. I've also tried using a different pc. Maybe they have changed the ip address of their domain name. The domain name servers in Thailand take a long time to update. I remember having the same problem when I changed isp earlier this year. I hope that this...

    Markets and randomness

Some of the points you make are very valid. However intuition and gut feeling can be misleading. Intuitively one would say the earth is flat; that the sun goes round the earth. The lesson of history is that the only knowledge worth having is that provided by the scientific method.

    Markets and randomness

I do not believe that markets are chaotic. A chaotic equation will produce too many runs to pass the test. Also, I don't think the time frame makes any difference. Days, weeks or years, they are all random. I cannot comment on smaller time frames than days as the data is not easily available.

    Markets and randomness

This was discussed in a previous thread. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=108473#post108473 In response to the comments and criticisms(mostly valid) of my original post I have done a more thorough analysis. I have calculated the mean for the differences in share or...

Trading plan if Iraq war announced?

I don't know which specific stocks I'd buy but my overall strategy would be as follows: Go short if the US looks like winning Go long if the US looks like losing Reasoning: 1) If the US wins Bu$h will be emboldened to invade other countries - more war, more terrorism  2)...

    Are share prices random?

One test of randomness is the runs test (Bradley, (1968). Distribution-Free Statistical Tests, Chapter 12). A run is defined as a series of increasing values or a series of decreasing values. The number of increasing, or decreasing, values is the length of the run. For example UP DOWN is a run...
