The Credit Crisis Financial Stocks Short Journal

There was an interesting article that came out recently on when should the fed raise rates. In the article it pointed out just how incredibly difficult it is to lower unemployment just by 1 percentage point. It said based on the standard rate increase formula which factors in unemployment and...

The Real Story with Citigroup and the Other Banks

Many banks right now are having to choose between reporting a profit or adding to their reserves. I read one comment that if they had to choose between beating estimates, they may put that extra towards reserves instead given it's the most prudent thing to do and would likely be encouraged...

    Wells Fargo is a SHORT

Goldman Sachs downgraded today... http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601110&sid=aHLpVdothyZc May effect other banking stocks, we'll see. I think some times the market needs something to point it's finger at as to why people are selling. If a hedge fund shortsells and crashes a stock...

Today: Big vote for health overhaul in Senate committee

"With Democrats holding a 13-10 majority on the committee the outcome of Tuesday's vote is not in doubt." What are the odds that something so huge like this would be voted on and likely to be approved on a day after the DOW makes a new high? I would assume that this thing is bad for a...

I'm calling it - The DOUBLE-TOP Is In

I agree with this. They dump out 20 or so "top stories" a day and if it goes up or down, they pull one and say that's why. However I do think the stock market acts kind of like a living organism or highway. If there is a bottleneck stopping traffic somewhere, or enough wrecks, it will cap...

    Why is volume so low?

thanks! Wow so the S&P hit a new 52 week high on the lowest volume day of the year. For some reason I feel like that screams of stock market manipulation or that buying has pretty much just dried completely up at a peak. We need a historical comparison to see where it goes from here. :p
