    your thoughts on starting out

    Another route you could take is to live on the west coast, under Pacific Time. This would allow you to wake up before the market opens at 6:30am, trade the open, and the first part of the day. (many of the best moves are during this time), then go to your 9-5 job during the day and earn a...

    Neovest IdeaLink

    I have been along time user of FirstAlert(FAT client), and am close to switching to their new THIN client that all of the data is maintained on their servers. This is something completely different than the idealink, and I'm not sure, but probably costs more $'s monthly. It has a huge list of...

    intraday scanners & tony oz criteria

    Dafugginman: FirstAlert is the top of the line in real-time filtering. It can filter the entire market on a tick by tick basis. I have had a filter that alerts me when a large bid upticks once, The BidSize > 5000, The BidSize is greater than the ask size, the avg20day volume is > 250k, etc etc...

    IB Improvements (Part 3)

    I was wondering why orders sent by the rapid order disappear once they have filled...the order disappearing is fine..but the position line disappears also. It used to fill, and only the order would disappear, leaving the symbol quote line showing your position...and would disappear once you...

    def II

    Baron, It is unfortunate..I came to ET because of the IB forums....and happened to see info on other brokers, etc........if ET is going to stop being useful for IB, I will have no reason to come to ET...so I'll never see any ads. So driving off IB, drives off potential ad views. Good...

    January Trading Journals

    Hitman, I suggested try to just sit for a day at your terminal and watch the mkt...without any trades....others have suggested a day or two off. Why not try it? I have always found that a short break helps clear the mind from being stuck in a rut. It appears from other posts on this...

    IB routing to PRIMEX

    So at this point IB completely removes the Active functions of ARCA and REDI? If that is the case, I guess I have no reason to use IB( I was about to wire funds). cas

    Hitman, -News: Trading news can be very difficult...and is for sure not a good thing for inexperienced traders to try and do...without watching it for a bit. That being said...I tend to read the news and try and put 2 and 2 together...say for example a stock is down on rumors...and the co...

    Hitman, I have not posted once on this board, but rather have been quitely following from start of your trading journal....simply because it was nice to look at a new trader starting out, and developing his abilities. I was able to reflect back to when I was starting, and see the correlation...

    Going to switch to IB...........

    Quick, Maybe it is just with the demo...but I type a symbol...it pulls up a drop down menu...I have to click it with the mouse...then the Route box pops up..I hit enter. If a fast moving trade comes up, I'd be very slow...I must be missing something?? Nothing happens when I try to type the...

    Going to switch to IB...........

    I have been playing with the demo for a few days....the one thing that bugs me is that when I type a new symbol into the line, it pulls up a menu asking if it is a stock, then I have to specify the order route.....not very fast when changing symbols frequently....is there a way around this??? I...
