    High Yield Investment Programs

There are so many of these Ponzi type scams that come about every day that it is very hard to be specific. Other than to say if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. www.quatloos.com is one of the best sites that I know of for information on scams. If you pick up a copy of Barrons...

    Capitalist Pig sues J. Cramer

Anyone would have made a lot more money following Honeig than Cramer over the past three years. Just off the top of my head Honeig on "Cashin In" was recommending buying REITS, GOLD, Foreign Bonds and a few other ORIGINAL ideas. Not to mention a few gems like shorting GE around 40, CSCO around...

Do you hate doing your taxes?

GG, If you are using Sch A for expenses then you would be subject to the 2% floor and have a choice of standard or itemized deduction. If on the other hand you treat your trading as a business you could use Schedule C and net those expenses from your trading income.

A scoop for not paying tax :)

There was a good article in Friday's WSJ about the matter of avoiding taxes. To sum it up. Two business men went to Ernst and Young (One of the countries largest CPA firms) and met with two tax partners. The partners proposed a way through partnerships that the men could shelter the tax due...

A scoop for not paying tax :)

The thing is the IRS has addressed the issue of the 16th amendment and subsequent court decisions have affirmed the constitutionality of the amendment. Miller V US addresses "The Law that Never Was." IRS response: -D. Contention: The Sixteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution...

A scoop for not paying tax :)

These tax protester scams pop up every day or so. Here is a link to the IRS website indicating who they are suing lately. http://www.treas.gov/irs/ci/tax_fraud/2002hearings/doj_releases.htm

    Best investment return

Foz, That is a really good idea, the CRB Index would have been a great place to park some cash this year. Hopefully there will be some ETF or Closed End Funds that are marketed publicly that trade commodities. Some of the gold funds like ASA have had nice runs. For the smallish trader...

    Discipline over Conviction?

It seems to me that you have an answer to your own question. Getting taken out of a trade every time there is a "Squiggle" on the chart bothers you. It also does not seem to be consistent with your overall long term strategy. Frankly, it works me too. But I bet there are traders here who...

    Financial Media (TV)

I trade a longer timeframe than most, but I can say unequivocally that the longer I trade, the less I like to listen to CNBC, Fox or read the financial press. I do listen to CNBC during the day, but they are more like co-workers. I suppose you become jaded after a while, especially after the...

    Iraq is whispering something

Isn't the question of what would happen if Saddam was killed?? My biggest concern on my shorts is hedging against Saddam getting ousted from power in one form or another. That would be good for a pop im sure. Never mind the fact that there are 100 other militant aholes just waiting to raid...

    Like a ton of bricks...

TMB, That is a good observation, guess it can be sliced two ways. 29, 30, 31, 32 all producing negative returns, or the actual "cycle" of 29-30, 30-31, 31-32. I don't know if 1932 was positive for the year. I have been toying with the idea of 00-01, 01-02, 02-03, which could be sliced...

    Like a ton of bricks...

LOL, me thinks you are right. I just can't believe they keep playing the commercial. CNBC has really redone their programming to distance itself from the market. Except today. One tidbit I found interesting, not sure of the validity of the numbers was that more money was lost in 1932 than...

    Like a ton of bricks...

I can tell that you guys are not watching CNBC, but on K&C tonight they are going to explain why the great earnings will finally break us out of the trading range. Well that plus the dividend tax cut. And if I recall from previous episodes Wireless and Telecom will be leading the way. Thank...

Mcdonald's -- "We Love to See you Smile!"

Their ATTITUDE is unhealthy. I can not believe that in my lifetime I would see the complete disregard for my fellow citizens. Serving a HOT cup of coffee to an elderly woman, I mean shit at 75 just how many cups of coffee could she possibly have consumed?? And what is this non-sense about...

    Contrarian!

The thing that I am looking for to call the next turn is LARRY(Abby Joseph Cohen) KUDLOW and JIM (Joe Batapaglia)CRAMER to turn just the least bit bearish. Maybe just one episode of Kudlow and Cramer where they DON'T talk about the proposed dividend tax cut. I really used to like that...

I Think I Found the Holy Grail

Corso, There is an interesting book by Perry Kaufman called Smarter Trading which addresses system development. If you can find it used, he addresses some good psychology and tips on system development. I don't know if it is a "Bible" as I am not a system trader, but some of the ideas were...
