It's called a fast market trading condition. Generally when the SP starts moving around very quickly, the quotes just simply can't keep up, so they widen them. Unless it's right after a fed announcement or something, there is no way in hell any MM is going to be able to make a market 5.4-7.8...

You need to look at the volume that traded in all the options, not just one specific option. There may have been 500 or 2000 options of a similar strike that traded without your specific strike seeing much action. Also, look at the open interest in the similar options to get an idea as to how...
