    Time to Buy AMD?

I agree about the Core2... it is better. But as pointed out, they've been having this competition for 10+ years now, and it's always by turns, where one CPU is faster/better til the other comes out with their next generation. However, AMD always had the lower price, and for the student and...

    Wallstreet Is Total Manipulation!!!

I never said I thought the market couldn't crash. But if you think about it a minute, the Mutual Funds have to be flush with 401K and IRA $$ right now. They look bad if they buy high. So *I* think they manipulate the market. Maybe I'm wrong here, but if I were a big mutual fund, and I know...

    Time to Buy AMD?

I agree that a lot of the buying on AMD today is due to expiration. But it's going to go up anyway:).

    Wallstreet Is Total Manipulation!!!

EXACTLY! That's when I started really making money, when I stopped paying attention to the pump and dumpers and doom and gloomers on TV. ALL my losses in 2000-2003 (which were substantial) I attribute to keeping 1 eye on Maria Bartiromo and her self-interested guests while trading. For the...

    Time to Buy AMD?

I'm always long AMD because I got all my AMD for free when it split (back when it was $70). But I like to sell calls on it when it looks like it's going down, and every time it dumps, I buy them back. Thank god I closed my calls on AMD yesterday:P, nyuk. I think it's going to $40 this year...

The Truth About Home Prices (What Statistical Data Doesn't Reflect)

While there are a bazillion houses on the market in all of Florida, the prices haven't dropped much in Central Florida. I know South and Southwest Florida have taken a pounding tho. Central Florida's economy has been insane for the last 15 years... when I last looked there were around 50,000...

What did you learn this year?

I learned to stop playing with HD, it's jinxed and everytime I do, I regret it:P. That is, unless it goes up $2 by Tues, then I won't have learned anything at all this year. :p

    Santa Clause Rally=Much Higher=More Records

Um... the index gains stink compared to some stock gains. I do buy indexes, but not in a bull market like this one. Consider how easy it is to get a $1-$2 move on some stocks almost every day (DVN, GG, EFUT, GROW are some of my favs). For example, you're spending $30-$70 for that $1. So...

    Santa Clause Rally=Much Higher=More Records

What are you buying? I bought NXG and HD today at the lows (so far). I bought GG yesterday and are up $.71 so far on that. I'm still buying dips and selling into strength, not a bear yet, but getting more cautious.

    The moment of reversal

It depended on what you were looking at. SPX fell over a period of 2 YEARS to go from 1525 (Aug 2000) down to around 800 (July 2002). But in Jan of 2000, it 'only' lost around 200 points. Nasdaq was more rock-like, it fell 1500 points from 5000 to 3500 in about 10 days in Jan of 2000, but...

    Soft Landing Wed?

Hrm. I have to admit that for the last few days, I've been less optimistic about the market than I had been. My own sentiment tends to mirror the market's rather than 'everyone' else's, whom I usually disagree with in general. I expected a slightly up close, but it was a slightly down close...

My Litany Of Mistakes - Leaving FAT $$$ on the Table

I think everyone leaves money on the table at some point... but if you are careful, when it's time to lose money, you don't lose as much either, so your attitude can be really beneficial as well. I try not to buy anything that will drop much, based on fundamentals, and I sell based on...

    pullback

Hrm... this topic never even appeared on my screen til today, and I look. Hell yes I bought long, and if it goes up a lot, I sell and buy more of other stocks with better upside potential long. Grant you this is more momentum playing at times, but how can you not buy if you KNOW it's going to...

    does this market seem manipulated???

Um... while I definitely think there will be some selling, I don't see 'sell offs'. I was thinking that today might close red, and it still might, but the COMP is up $35 atm, and SPY $9.79 right now. Looks like deal shopping to me unless you meant something else by deal shopping. On my...

    does this market seem manipulated???

That's true... IF the dollar continues to fall. However, it's assumption that it 'continues to fall'. The only given is that it is currently falling. Why would you assume it could continue to fall? Other nations wouldn't allow it. Consider, we are a net debt country with a huge trade...

    does this market seem manipulated???

I see. I guess I don't really understand shorts very well, and never shorted. If I want a hedge down, I just buy puts. It's a fixed loss that way with no surprises. Shorting sounds a lot riskier with no real protection, but I guess intraday, puts don't make much sense. I'm still learning...

    does this market seem manipulated???

First of all, WHY are people so fond of shorts rather than longs? Shorts are on margin, with a much higher risk. I keep scratching my head every time I see people talk about shorting as if it were an advantage over long positions... As for dollar weakness being unhealthy for our US...
