    Trading the NYSE intraday

Just to start a list of specialists I've already heard about: GS IBM TXN I will probably be trading listed at a prop firm. I've only traded eminis so I don't know NYSE. Can anyone shed some light on what exactly these guys do that's so bad? Is it the poor fills? Is it the way they run...

trading for banks/hedge funds/ market makers

First check out vault.com. You might meet an actual recruiter or employee of GS. If possible, attent an ivy league school. Preferably Upenn, Columbia or Harvard. If not that, then NYU or a top 10 state school. Ignore what I've said if you've already done that. Network like hell. Contact...

    recommended programming books

You might want to check out Carnegie Mellon's Financial Engineering syllabus. I believe they list the texts they use on line. Go to www.cmu.edu and look up the "MSCF" program.

some of the Market Wizards are taking hits.

Isn't Ed Seykota charging 25K for seminars? Isn't LBR doing seminars? Why the hell would you teach your methods and water them down? I guess we have an answer now.

ATTN: All professional/prop firm owners and managers.

A superstar would want to be backed b/c it reduces his risk. It's not his money at stake. And the firm benefits from his experience, commissions etc. It might be a real morale booster too in the office.

    Prop Trading eminis

If everybody in the office thinks it can't be done, then it probably will not happen. Think about it. If the Bright brothers are constantly telling you that "You have no edge trading the minis", you're going to be influenced at least a little bit. And if you have 12 guys bleeding money...

    background of trader

The reputable ones have the risk management to stop a huge trader blowout so what do they care if some guy burns through 25K? These firms offer a real opportunity for wealth accumulation to those w/ out fancy degrees, blue blood or a trust fund. There are some heavy hitters at some of...

    Hedge Fund

I think the point has been proven. The numbers are close. It doesn't matter where you trade. If you're good, you're good. I define trading as making money in the markets. Anyway possible. Both are impressive numbers.

    Hedge Fund

What the hell is that? I can't see shit. All I see is a 454 and a comma. Why is the rest of it blacked out? And the whole thing is dark as hell. Anyway... we'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you've made 454,000 gross income. That's pretty high. I do know some on ET can match...

Warren Buffet expects US to be nuked.

Maybe it's just the logical conclusion. But it's nothing that needs to be said out loud. He's like a Greenspan. For whatever reason, people pay attention to him and he moves the markets. I don't question his statements. A nuclear attack is probable. I just take issue w/ stating that in a...

Warren Buffet expects US to be nuked.

Buffet is a big holder of insurance stocks. Is that why he came out w/ such a statement? Hell yes!!! This guy's shady as fuck. The markets are skittish, people are frightened and he's trying to pump up his stocks.

    Missing the bid

It doesn't matter whether you're using limit or market b/c it evens out in the end. You miss some moves w/ limit but you save money on the spread, the opposite being true for market. Would this conclusion apply to all markets or just listed stocks? Nitro: What do you mean when...
