    October Trading Journals

Thanks for getting back to me. So options are not available to the average worldco trader if I understand correctly. I have a question about your firm's culture. Your firm is probably the biggest and baddest prop shop and I want to work there someday. But I was wondering what the culture...

    Superstar Traders?

Whatever salary number you get will be irrelevant. I believe CSFB laid of 2k workers. I know for a fact that the incoming trading class of JPMorgan is half the usual number. Big cuts all around. Any past numbers will be almost irrelevant in the current atmosphere. Volume is down. The bull...

Not to dismiss what Nicodemus said but... It's true that you should be consistent but if you stumble on a new idea that helps you perceive support and resistance or trends a bit differently, it's worthwhile. Check out this address to learn how a really succesful trader uses elliot wave in...

    Only trade volatile stocks

From what you said, you are trying to catch "big moves" in volatile stocks. You talked about special situations and predicting market direction. Maybe options trading is more suited for this style. With options, you could custom tailor your risk exposure and make plays on volatility as well...

    First New York Securities

I tried waiting for the perfect time to trade. I got rid of all my bills by moving in with my folks. I secured a decent amount of capital. But my folks think daytrading is "too risky" and they're very disappointed in me. I sit in front of the computer all day and my pop tells me to "Get a...

interesting news re war on terrorism

Check out Yahoo.Com. 4000 Taliban rebels have defected to the northern alliance. More defections are expected. The Taliban offered to turn over Osama bin Laden today. Bush refused. My point is that Osama isn't a "ghost" and he isn't kesyer soze. Also, America isn't invincible. The...

Check out the financial engineering program at Carnegie Mellon. It should be under their grad school section. Also, there is one at Oregon.

I'm giving you the "insider scoop" on your own company! :D Sorry I thought you were at Worldco. It seems everybody else on these boards is with them. And if it's not Worldco it's either bright or echo. As to why nobody talks about them...I don't know. They really are a great firm from...

    Disciplined Trading - feedback appreciated

I read somewhere that the imagination is stronger than the willpower. I believe it. Our thoughts create our reality. Try focusing on one problem until it is taken care of. Paper trade at first, then do small shares until you've eliminated the problem. Try a visualization exercise: relax...

Largest Daytrading firm in the US.

I talked to a guy on vault.com who worked at Momentum and he was really impressed with it. He said he wouldn't work anywhere else and there wasn't much pressure. Also, guys in his office are fairly successful as some pull down 5-20K a day. Yes that's per day. Check it out. He had to wait a...

    Life after Proprietary Trading?

Money can buy some happiness. When I first came to this country, my family barely had anything. We didn't even have furniture in our first apartment. Things are much better now and I've got a shot at real trading success. This is because of one thing: money. Money lets you buy nice...

Anyone work for a market making firm?

I don't expect it to be easy. However, if I have a trading background (and some success), I believe the odds of success go up. Mainly, I was just curious as to what the job was like and how the current environment was. It's just something I want to keep as an option for when the good years come.

    Life after Proprietary Trading?

That's good info on Tradescape. I've plugged them at least twice on these boards. I didn't know they had a draw instead of a salary. As for your other comments on easy money in Ibanking, forget about that. I know people in Ib. My cousin just got an offer at Chase. He goes in at 8, leaves...
