what is the difference between soybeans ZS and soybean S?

"CME FX products that trade side-by-side are the same contract in the pit as on CME Globex. Traders can offset an order entered on CME Globex by placing an order to the trading floor and vice versa. However, although the contracts are the same, they have different ticker symbols."...

    quick question

"Interest rate futures" can mean a lot of things. Fed Funds, Eurodollars, Notes, Bills, Bonds, not to mention Bunds, Euroyen, etc. Eurodollars will reflect the fed target rate. As a result, the more fed meetings between now and the expiration of the contract, the more chances the target rate...

what is the difference between soybeans ZS and soybean S?

They are identical except for the method of trading. Soybean futures are traded in the pit, ECBOT (ZS) futures are traded electronically. I'm 99% sure the contracts are fungible, so you can offset a pit contract with an electronic contract. As for which to trade--it probably depends mostly...

    Credit Spread Question

At the time, I was doing primarily strangles, rather than verticals. I got reasonably good fills on ES, but horrible ones on ER (if you didn't hit the bid or take the ask, you were just plain out of luck). I would then make adjustments to my strangles with verticals and got pretty good fills...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

The market's telling me I'm oh so wrong, but I feel oh so right. :-)

Average Daily volatility on CBOT products

I no longer trade outright futures at all, only spreads. I love commodities because fundamentals mean something. I've ignored every technical signal to get long cotton that I normally would take because I know we have a lot of Cotton, no one is using Cotton, and no one is exporting Cotton...

    Help from experienced persons please...

You would be writing the option if you got short the puts. Selling a put you already own is just closing out a position. Options have four trades: Buy to open Sell to open Buy to close Sell to close You have bought to open, and now you want to sell to close. Selling to open is "writing".

Average Daily volatility on CBOT products

This will widely vary with fundamentals. Wheat last October was *insane*. Soybeans is likely more volatile (at the moment) due to: 1) We have a LOT of them in storage 2) If we don't pay up, no one will plant them So, we have a commodity no one wants, but has to pay for anyway. How much is...

    IB covered call question

They will call away your shares. I've done this from the short side (I'm long an ITM call and want to lock in a profit, so I short the stock and exercise).

    S&P 500 Index Options

"Not that long ago" is a very polite way of saying "currently going on" here: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89846

    When premium income is collected

Go to www.nybot.com Select "Market Info" -> "Calendar" Select "Product Specific Calendar" Select "Coffee, 2007" The symbol 'KO' is coffee options, the symbol 'KC' is coffee futures. I'm certain you can find nymex's calendar the exact same way I found NYBOTs and CMEs.

    When premium income is collected

Each commodity has dramatically different expiration (aka "last trade") dates, and some are entirely confusing (April Crude just closed out, for example). CME's product calendar is here: http://www.cme.com/clearing/clr/product_calendar.html For example, the last trade date for the ES...

    Eurodollar Spreads/ Eurodollar

The trade is a futures butterfly. There's some more information here: http://www.cme.com/files/JBCMETSYPresentation.pdf (Search for butterfly--it starts on page 21)

    Bond rally nearing an end?

I'll take that trade. This looks like a H&S to me. That aside, I think inflation is the real concern. Out at 113 24, looking for 110 to get out of half. I'm playing this with mid-curve ED puts, however.

    Eurodollar Spreads/ Eurodollar

Given the shape of the forward yield curve, a butterfly is a pretty efficient way to play. Take a look at: EDU7-2EDU8+EDU9

    Credit Spread Question

The best way to answer your questions is to get quotes for all of them. I find ES has a better bid/ask spread than SPX, but that may just be the strikes and expiration months I'm looking at. More importantly, I've had much better luck getting a fill at the midpoint on ES than on SPX. But...

    Credit Spread Question

A good point, although probably not too significant to someone selling OTM credit spreads. Your short calls would have to get pretty far in the money to be called away (which would be max loss for him). The OP should also look at ES futures options. I've found getting fills at the midpoint is...

    Credit Spread Question

A couple thoughts: 1) How quickly did you lower your asking price? If I were sitting watching and saw someone continually lower their ask, I'd just wait too. 2) You're trading a relatively illiquid option. OEX and SPX are not known for tight spreads or quick fills. Take a look at SPY...

    ES or SPX options

Cost of carry gives SP a directional bias that doesn't exist with SPX. But, then again, SPX options should be on a synthetic future. You're right, it shouldn't matter. My mistake.

    Options/Futures Contracts Limitation

I'm pretty sure the drug carry trade is willingly being done already. You'll have to find a way that doesn't include someone bearing your blunt. I suppose you might have meant brunt, but maybe not.
