what I don't understand when I see numbers like 70% of all volume is algo/bot trading, is who are they competing against? How are they making money if they account for a majority of the volume?

I always though realtick excelled if you don't use a lot of studies... although the drawing tools are lacking.

just plot the MACD along with candles and observe.. MACD just shows momentum all of these indicators aren't very useful unless you want to code it.. I started off with all these stochastics and stuff but they just show you what you can already see from the price alone.. so it's superfluous...

i use amibroker for scanning, i don't think it's used for actual trading you might consider neoticker
