I think it's the net result that really matters of course in the end, and you should not get too hung up on the ratio of winning trades to losing trades - I'd rather be up money after 5 losing days and 1 winning day - than down after 5 winning days and 1 loser...

You could get into trading from fundamental analysis - for example understanding how the markets react to economic indicators etc.

Despite my previous comment on fundamentals..I just got long for a short term trade - the 5 period EMA crossed over the 10 period EMA on the 15 minute chart and there is bullish confirmation from the oscillators...

BOE will announce their interest rate decision this week - the market is expecting rates to be lowered by 25bp. The economy has been suffering with a weakening housing market - I'm expecting negative fundamental data to put pressure on the GBP near term...

As mentioned Murphy's Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets is a classic... Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by Edwards and Magee is also highly regarded. Technical Analysis for Dummies is of course lighter and I thought it was quite good.

I agree with some of the above posters, suggesting that if you are consistently profitable on your own why go somewhere else....but if you do want more capital to play with you could go to the prop firms.....to my knowledge the thing they will be most impressed with will be statements proving...

If you are trading EUR/USD - and you take a long position, you are simultaneously buying EUR and selling USD...in this way you are always trading 'currency pairs' in forex...
