    Why 99,9% fail

It might not be wise to quit a steady job to START trading ... but it's definitely not wise to think you can be successful at trading by only learning / doing it part time.

Legitimate Question About Buffet's Contrary Public Statements A Week Apart

Whether it's Buffet, a large well known fund manager, or a proven trader, knowing what they are buying or selling is virtually worthless unless you know WHY they are buying or selling.

9/11 most bull friendly day of September

I got this off of www.drudgereport.com ... Dow Jones end of Friday: 9605 Dow Jones Sept 10 2001: 9605 eerie. Also, the 9/11 truth movement has speculated for some time that unknown traders used knowledge of the Sept. 11 attacks to make money, including using puts for the air lines...

Actual explanation of how the credit bubble formed

Wow, thanks for the in-depth explanation (and re-posting it so that I could find it.) I am a Business major, and I didn't find out about the derivatives market or the secondary market until a guest speaker came in last April -- way after the market crashed. A lot of this isn't "textbook"...

Film Reviews: "Broke: The New American Dream"

I just bought this movie last week and watched it over the weekend. As the movie points out, the movie is about hope and individual responsibility. But I have doubts that the people who need to see this movie actually will...or will do anything about their positions. I wish they showed...

Tomorrow Wednesday 09/09/2009: Beginning of Bear Leg

i laughed at first when i read this thread subject, i thought it was based on superstition with 09-09-09. Another bullish day, and I think weekly jobless numbers will be light tomorrow considering many bosses took off last week. Market may be going up, but I'm also getting good buy-in prices...

Need to be happy to trade well

I like to be neither happy nor unhappy. Trading is unemotional to me. I try to find a lot of other things in life to make me happy (family, friends, running, other hobbies). But when it comes to trading, I am detached from it. Helps for some people, maybe not everyone

    Avoiding Multicolinearity

interesting thread topic. hope you start finding answers more to your liking. from my experience, i cut out most indicators to focus on price action and volume, just like some of the other traders on here. indicators that track these serve as a useful backup, many times just b/c other...

Are we close to a top?

I think we should be topping out in this quarter. Economic problems should come home to roast by quarter three. If earnings season isn't the catalyst, swine flu, high crude oil prices, a weak dollar, or massive prime mortgage and deft defaults could send us back down until sometime in 2010...

AFL-CIO, Dems push new Wall Street tax

When business is in bed with the government, I get scared. Those who make the rules can always "win." So I've been scared a lot lately.

    Which leads: Options or Equities?

I've done just fine never looking at options. The only thing I have to adjust for in consideration of options is stop loss / targets -- I don't want to get whipped out of trades as institutions manipulate stock prices to make money off of their options at even numbers, etc
