Which is your favourite indicator and why ?

I've used keltner bands so much now I have a hard time looking at a chart without. It allows me to easily see momentum , is the market over extended, easily contrast size of a move, and to measure pullbacks and view their structure very quickly. I use a 20 day EMA. Nothing says it has to...

The odds of day trading yourself to a profit are lower than you expect"

Well I think that number may be low. Seems like every thread I see about someone trying to become a day trader usually involves no plan and a 25k or less account. Seems most people try to make by being in the worse position, having to make money to pay the rent, under sized, no plan.

Interesting time and sales for AAR-UN.TO

So actually got out of this trade on a trailing stop early this morning. Later on in the day while at work ,I pull up my charts to see whats going on and browse over to AAR-UN.TO to see how it was trading for the day after I got stopped. I was kind of shocked at what I saw. This type of stuff...

    Prison Stocks

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/18/dont-lock-the-door-on-those-prison-stocks-just-yet-analysts-warn.html Saw this article today. If some of that is true, the market may have over reacted. If I had the balls to trade it I'd be long from here. But nothing says the market has to be rationale lol.

Amibroker and the End of Day Database

I've been slacking in the old AFL education lol. I would consider myself above novice in what I know. I manage to get by with the models and ideas I have to backtest or explore. I would think the issue with learning AFL, like any coding language is expressing ideas into a language a computer can...

Amibroker and the End of Day Database

https://www.amibroker.com/guide/versions.html Theirs a comparison I found of the two. When I bought it I got the Ultimate Pack which in hindsight wasn't required lol.(AFL Wizard is pretty useless as the stuff it's capable of doing are ridiculously easy to code yourself). The benefit of the...

Market data containing pre & post market

I know using IQfeed with Amibroker allows me to set market times so I can distinguish pre market, market and after market. Their tick request is only 120 days back but 1 min history goes back to 2007 for most their products. I'd contact their support for what your looking for and see what...

My goal is to make at least 30% per month

I'm guessing it was all just a hoax and the investors money never existed. The part about using someone else's money for this strategy actually made me a bit sick lol. Trading my own money is hard enough, being trusted with someone else's money is one of the biggest responsibilities a trader...

    IB Paper Trading Chart Issue

On a side note, I've noticed that almost all the popular 3rd party charting/trading softwares support IB data and trading through plugins or even the combination of IB as a broker and then use of another data provider is common.

Real time Vs 15 min delayed data

Depends on whose giving you the tick data. Some brokers provide aggregated ticks or 1 second snapshots while a company who provides only data will most likely provide you with tick by tick with millisecond time stamps and allow you to aggregate them yourself if you need to. And your always...

    IB Paper Trading Chart Issue

Have you tried waiting the delay time? I had a similar issue with Amibroker when I took a trial of IQfeed. I didn't get any realtime data just to see how they worked together and I actually had to wait 15 minutes or so then the chart synced up and started streaming delay feed. Unless I forced...

any broker with no pattern day trading rules

I fodn I've never had to deal with the issue but your saying once it's triggered you can't even close a position? http://www.finra.org/investors/day-trading-margin-requirements-know-rules The rules there from what I can see is there is a few steps before your tagged as a pattern day...

    Interest on Debit trades

:/ we don't have any PDT rules in Canada. Perhaps some U.S brokers have rules because of the way they clear but anyone I've seen with a shop setup in Canada doesn't have a PDT rule. My bank for instance will allow me to trade with unsettled funds in my registered account( cash only) which I...

My goal is to make at least 30% per month

Sounds good then. My only recommendation would be to stress test the system and try to break it. Throw a few black swans into the equation and see if the risk/drawdown is within your expectations. Know your forward testing right now and I know that historical option data is not easy to come by...
