Newbie question about Volume in a trade

The bid/offer is showed in lots. Simply put 50 in as quantity.

Did the stock market just hit a brick wall?

Wish people stop with this. Haven’t looked at markets since the open and was wondering what the heck I missed. 1.2% move is more of a beginning of a pullback then a wall. Kind of worried me for a bit as I didn’t see any alerts.

Anyone paying less than $3.95 for CDN equity trading

Only ones I can think of is Interactive Brokers Canada. Probably best bet. Questrade can get down to a penny a share or 4.95 flat if you subscribe to their advance data packages. Their like 80$ a month but their reimbursed if you generate enough commissions. It’s quite high though so IB still...

What are the differences and similarities between commodity futures trading and US stock trading?

Depends on your strategy. Stocks theirs a huge selection all moving off news, earnings, hype. If you took a simple pullback trading strategy, might take awhile to find futures setups while you’d find multiple entries in stocks. Wish I could find the article but it was a study of trend vs mean...

Tax reporting for day trades - order by order or in aggregate?

Wouldnt it be awesome if you could just say “ I had this much money at beginning of year, and had this much at end of year”.

    Need help configuring a workstation

When you say tick data is stored on the app you mean you don’t have the data locally and it’s pulling from the app providers side? Most likely not an issue on your end and just an issue with pulling data from the app.

Volume Histogram not showing in chart

Since your name says forex I’m guessing your trading forex? Don’t use IB but believe most forex data doesn’t have volume since theirs no central exchange for it to report too.

    free backtesting

Quantopian and Quantconnect seem to get a some traction. Believe their both python based, one might also support C#. Never tried them myself but believe the nice thing is they’re supporting and handling the data which is a nice feature. For something as simple as MA on stocks, Excel is all you...

    Stop hunting

I must be super dumb but shouldn’t your stop orders be sent to the exchange. I think having your broker hold a stop order is a bad idea. Conditional orders that brokerages have programmed in, sure since those aren’t exchange supported orders. Too lazy to see what exchange support what orders...

    My issue about AMP

Pretty standard for most brokerages I believe. They want to know when you screw up and end up down -10k that they can get their money back.

Positive news is coming on Oxford Covid-19 vaccine backed by Astra Zeneca

    TC2000 Version 7

Version 7 is a different platform. I used it for awhile to feed Amibroker data. TC2000 the data is stored on their end. TC2000 v7 was the data is downloaded to your PC. Few other differences and because some users still use they’ve still kept it running.

Yahoo Finance - Volume Profile Time-Span?

Don’t think IB is considered a premium provider. Their not in the data business nor do they seem to want to be with some of their real time streaming limitations and backfill requests. IQFeed, Esignal and many others are in the data business.

Nasdaq's Summary of the SEC’s Proposed Changes to the National Market System

You’d think a simpler approach would be mandatory splits? I’m just picturing myself trying to do the math with 50 lots. “Soooo theirs 5 lots up, at 50 shares per lot, then I start counting fingers. “

Nasdaq's Summary of the SEC’s Proposed Changes to the National Market System

So we got dozens of exchanges. Each have their own order types/maker taker systems. Throw the latency between the exchanges offering arbitrage opportunities for HFT in the bag. Then to top it off you got dozens of darkpools and firms buying orders. I think it’d be fantastic to try just having...

Nasdaq's Summary of the SEC’s Proposed Changes to the National Market System

I’m not going to lie. I’m confused reading the that. Sounds like more complexity which is what has got the stock market into its current mess. But I’m assuming it NASDAQ opposes it then it’s good for retail?
