How much does a first-year prop trader make on average?

I've seen this opinion before, and am curious about the reasoning behind it. Assuming you are a moderately profitably prop trader (~100k/year), how can having demonstrated that you can fend for yourself in the market be viewed as a negative?

    Stock orders routed to NYSE

Nasdaq runs their own opening cross in NYSE/AMEX issues. Different opening prices are very common between the NYSE and NASDAQ in the same stock.

    Opening Orders - 2008

I saw that in the WSJ today, as well. It will be interesting to see what happens. I trade the NASDAQ open/closing crosses exclusively, no NYSE. Granted I'm biased, but I would love to see the NYSE crosses become more like NASDAQ's.

    Excel help needed

Alright, well, I've got it working. I've had it running for a day or so and my R-value as I look at it right now is hovering right around .53. - which was what Brett found to be the historical average. My next puzzle is to figure out what the distribution of the r-value is. Without knowing...

    hmmmm, frontrunning ? Could be.

I'm guessing in between the time when your broker's software changed from ENTERED to SENT, they actually posted the bid to the live market. In the live market, there was a program that immediately pennied it. Thus it appeared that something fishy went on, but was really just an effect of the...

please help ? Dark pools trade volume?

I think this is being made more complicated than it is. I trade with dark liquidity everyday. In all of my trades, the trades are reported to the tape immediately. Thus, some trades are reported as soon as they happen. You called the dark books and were told they sometimes report the...

    Dark Pools

You can tell if dark liquidity is trading by watching the prints. You have know what exchange each ECN will print through. For example, on my platform ISLD/NSDQ will print the quote/time/price with "i" and NAS by the print. Many dark books print NAS, as well. Here's a scenario where I can...

    Dark Pools

They still report to the tape. But, yes, I find them very irritating. If you know how to route your orders, it's possible to trade with them, and hopefully it will be even easier to hit them in the near future - ARCA and NSDQ supposedly will cross with some of them.
