    desk fees...black box...

Desk fee's are pretty standard. My firm doesn't charge them but.......they won't take somebody who is happy to just trade 200 shares a day. Even though they could recoup the cost with a desk fee there is the additional expense of keeping additional staff if you have a lot of these...

most efficient way to study for the series 55?

I'd go though the material heavily. The 7 is well known to all of the NASD instructors as it is the most common test. 55 isn't. The way the material is in the books Dearborn STC and Bioysis (SP?) isn't the same as the test. Robert

    IB MOC order reliability

MOC orders were originally created for NY as there is one open and one close. Not as specific on NASDAQ as per the open close. You were looking for a closing print on Island but how do you know Island is going to be around? On NY they must be in 20 minutes before the closing print.

    SP 500 Additions

Used to do it all the time. I was 8 for 9. Than I saw it posted about on here. I luckily cut back my size than eventually quit. Now I've seen 12 for 35. Ratio got much worse and when they go against you it's a lot more than what you make on the plus side DGX comes to mind...

    NYSE & Nasdaq

This is an assumption --not a fact They do not control order flow. They accommodate order flow. They are ONLY 20% of the volume in a stock. Regular statistics are published by DOT services on how Specialist are handling orders. They are replaced if they don't meet certain standards.

How Come No Desks At Investment Banks?

Investment banks you are working for somebody else. Quite a few traders got into the industry to not have anyone tell them what to do other than the market. There have been multiple layoffs in the last year from investoment banks. Robert

    NYSE & Nasdaq

Actually too One more thing The NYSE specialist isn't 90% of the volume Program trading accounts for 30% of the volume on the NYSE. Than you have some floor brokers standing near the posts hedge funds, mutal funds, prop traders, daytraders, swing traders, longer term...

    NYSE & Nasdaq

nicely said. Instead of complaining about a system --realize there are edges involved for a trader and used them to your advantage. If you want NASDAQ than trade it and leave NY alone.
