What's the best method to keep yourself from overtrading?

"other" I have multiple systems with a positive expectancy. If they don't have a positive expectancy during a certain period I don't trade. Seeing my P&L get effected was enough to see that. Different systems work in different conditions Robert

    Bullets & Conversions

The put is written/purchased from the bullet firm. Where else can you find one day expiration on options? ' Conversions involve the options floor. A few years ago when interest rates were higher the option traders would do anything to get a conversion, including giving it out on a credit...

    Hammer API

This can be a two edged sword. I can talk about the benefits and it could even bring a few traders into the firm ..... but at the same time that would allow my competition to add some of the features to their software which could eventually hurt me so I'm going to not say too much...

    Hammer API

Hey just for an update got the automation I needed for some of my strategies. They are now "greyboxed"-which is helping me out a lot. It was done purely in house, thanks to everyone who PMed me/emailed me about this--but there was no way I was going to share my strategies with somebody outside...

    Prop futures trading

Interactive Brokers isn't a Prop firm ...hence not much info on site about this Futures has increased leverage already so not many prop firms around. There are few firms that will train you, sponsor you but you will be on the floor in the pits, not upstairs. Robert

Prop Trading, a good use for $5000?

Each case is different I agree. I work on a different model for training traders. Protecting capital is key, getting consistent is 2nd and than after consistent winners is time to start to step up the size. I don't agree with large drawdowns. Again best advice I know is <b> Talk...

Prop Trading, a good use for $5000?

I would SERIOUSLY look at your training the firm is providing if you even lose $1500 and question everything being taught if you are in this situation. That's a pretty serious drawdown for being trained. Is that the norm for the rest of the new guys you are being trained around. Or are you...

    Direct Access vs. Non-direct

are you active or passive? When I swing traded Ameritrade, E-Trade or any of the online brokers would be fine as I'm not too concerned about quote speed and pennies on my fills. If you are trading actively forget it and move to direct access Robert

    Why trade listed

trade whatever you want. There is no magic thing to trade. I trade listed because I've learned a lot from successful listed traders and can do well in listed stocks. If you want to trade Nasdaq feel free to. Different game with very different rules. Robert

How long do you wait for NYSE fills?

always faster...............but not better The rules of price improvement don't apply and no real size on the ECNs. Hard to trade 2000 shares when I can only get 132 shares on Island I prefer my daily gifts of price improvement over faster fills any day. Robert
