Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

I have 2 ISP's, 2 routers and 2 PC's, each PC connected to both routers. Synergy works fine.

    IB TWS shorting question...

I agree this has become a huge hassle. There's no notification whatsoever through the API or TWS that your order is HTB. Sitting in a pending state (dark blue) does no one any good. It's not like there's going to be a locate sooner than 4 hours after I wanted the trade anyway! BTW, I love...

Trading 5000 blocks, still use IB?

Not sure of your definition of serious but I know firsthand several very profitable players at IB. I make some decent cash there myself. Some things IB does better, some things are better done elsewhere. There's no law against having more than one broker. For example, IB has an excellent API...

career as a trader over before it began?

I don't understand what you think you're going to learn clicking on quotes at work. Studying the day's action after work might get you somewhere. But if you aren't trading for real, you're just listening to noise during the day. I think your first test of being a trader is going to be...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

Hmmm.... don't know what to tell you. It worked smoothly right from the start for me. If your client isn't recognizing the server the most obvious thing is to doublecheck that the names you specified as the client and server match the real names you gave your PC's. They might even be case...

career as a trader over before it began?

If I read between the lines in your post it would seem you don't make enough money trading to justify not taking this job. Therefore I have to ask what skills you have that you are so worried about not losing? If you had the skills to make good money trading, you wouldn't have taken the job...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

Yes it's stable. I don't recall any crashes. Easy to install, easy to use. It's free, why not try it first before going to a hardware solution? Don't know what I'd do without it.

    The Opening Orders Thread

Probably be the difference. I used: $SPX 1401.9 FV 13.3 ES 1423.2 To get your percentage, you sent using an ES of around 1420.3 ES never traded near there before the market. +670 today btw.

    Prop Commission vs IB's

IB's rates are very competitive with a typical prop firm. Plus you have the flexibility of choosing their bundled or unbundled rate based on your trading style. There is no desk fee at IB. How do the mainstream retail brokers make money on a $10/trade commission when you are using "passive...

IB Are You EVER Going To Give Us Commission Details?

I wonder if you'd have the same attitude if your commissions magically went up .0015 one day on a system that's extremely consistent on costs? Then I bet you'd be bitching for some execution details, just like I am.

IB Are You EVER Going To Give Us Commission Details?

I hope you aren't saying I'm accusing IB of FRAUD. But I hope you realize how easy it is for there to be the opportunity to mischarge, especially for a high-volume automated trader. Can remember on each order whether you added or took liquidity the next day? If you can, what proof do you...

IB Are You EVER Going To Give Us Commission Details?

Note that this rant is for unbundled commissions only. For bundled there's no grey area: .005/shr. They've been a fine broker overall, but I've hit the end of my rope on this lack of transparency.

IB Are You EVER Going To Give Us Commission Details?

I think IB has had their unbundled commissions rolled out long enough that they should be able to give us detailed commission charges on all trades. Yet they do not. I find this "trust us" attitude absolutely mind-boggling for a firm that claims to be catering to the professional trader. My prop...

    NYSE alerts MOC order imbalance

I never was able to find it as a retail trader. I don't know why. A lot of prop firms offer it though.

Is FIX the way to go for automated trading with IB?

As long as your route to SMART the API rate can be the unbundled rate. I believe FIX pricing is the same. I don't know if they hit you with a routing surcharge through the FIX gateway though.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

Glad it makes sense now. FYI, for this strategy price improvement is measured as the difference between your actual OPG fill and your limit price. Whether you are ahead immediately after the fill or not is irrelevant.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

Then what you describe makes no sense and I don't think you understand the strategy. In this strategy you are placing both buy and sell limit orders for each stock. This is impossible to do with market orders since they would just cancel each other out. If you are placing a single market order...
