    Velocity Futures Question

I think Tuco was a prop firm and Velocity is an FCM, so its not really fair to compare the two of them. The bottom line with FCM's is that there are two types: clearing and non-clearing. Capital requirements are much higher for clearing members than for non-clearing members, so by definition...

    Velocity Futures Question

In all fairness, I think its worth noting that technically, Velocity didn't do anything wrong. According to NFA regulations, they are allowed to keep customer segregated funds on deposit with other FCM's, which Sentinel was, and I don't believe they were sanctioned in any way for the events...

    Velocity Futures Question

Perhaps its because you have your own FMDS server. For me, charts finally came back online within the last hour, but are only backfilling from 8:05am PST / 10:05am CST this morning.

TT's FIX ADAPTER vs. TT's X Trader API

In terms of performance I don't think you'll see that much of a difference. The main difference is that the API requires you to be running X_TRADER Pro, as opposed to the FIX Adapter which can be run headless. The other difference is price... Although it will vary from broker to broker...

    Futures Account Insurance Protection

Actually, I don't have a recent source, so I guess I should have phrased it differently. My statements were based off of a phone inquiry I made to the NFA back around 2001. I was trying to find out if they maintained any statistics regarding aggregate amounts of customer funds lost due to firm...

    Futures Account Insurance Protection

Unlike securities accounts which enjoy SIPC protection for the first $100k (and typically private insurance for amounts above and beyond that), there is no account protection for futures accounts. Interactive Brokers simulates futures account protection to the extent that they do a daily...

    Velocity Futures Question

Is there anything you should know about Velocity? Well, you should know that like a lot of other vendors and brokers, they're not immune to technical difficulties. For instance, today X_STUDY has been down for the entire day and has yet to come back online (although its important to note that...

    Router suggestions + printing

In the future you might want to think about buying printers that are "LAN ready" that way you can just plug it into your router, which in turn will assign it an IP address which can be seen across your entire network as an appliance. That way you can print from any machine that is on your...

Google bringing out own browser !!!

Areed... but it turns out that the browser never actually did that, it was just assumed that it did that based on how the EULA read. I also looked through the source code and didn't find any code that actually "phoned home." It appears that the whole this was just a misunderstanding.

Investing Vue - worst sponsor ever, trying to wreck ET?

As bad as this guy's actions make him look, I think it reflects much more poorly on Baron and ET. Its an absolute joke that he's willing to let a paid sponsor get away with this kind of behavior just so he can keep collecting whatever trivial sponsorship money is being paid. I think there are...

Very revealing chat with my broker

It really doesn't matter at all who is taking the other side of your trade... you're the one making the decision and pushing the button to go either long or short, not the counterparty.... the only thing that should be important to you is that somebody somewhere... anybody anywhere... is willing...
