let's examine your logic here
1. You say we have a gun problem yet you are boasting how well the gun control laws work in NYC, so which is it in NYC?
2. You admit that rural areas have lower murder rates
3. THEREFORE everyone, including rural areas, needs tougher gun laws
why?? you...
I get sudden solvency of places like california, New York, and Chicago, I get rid of about $5T unfunded liability, lower taxes, and in the federal budget we immediately take out about $518 Billion
Of the $64B a month paid out in SSI, about $10B of that is disability. $120B a year
Farm...
yes I'm sure, all private insurance works that way.
I'm not saying you ALWAYS collect, but IF you collect you get more than what you paid.
SSI is the opposite, you almost always collect and get less than what you paid (for my generation)
One does not 'insure' against old age, you...
unemployement benefits, medicaid, obamacare, SSID, farm subsidies, SCHIP, education, public employee pensions and benefits...
you guys are dishonest about the problems we have before us, you seem to need to be that way.
no it's not insurance, it's welfare.
Insurance schemes:
1) Not open ended in what they will pay
2) Pay out far more than the premium costs
3) have a minority of participants collect
Social Security:
1) most all people collect something
2) Costs me more than I will collect (tell...
ok, just don't try and tell me what a great deal SSI is for me persoanlly or other young people, I am basically paying a hell of a lot more in welfare taxes and that's my point

we have been down this road before.. so entitlements are not a problem but the cost of health care is? that's really stupid, and 'we' don't agree on what is best, so it isn't that simple.
Cost is being driven up by government distortions, the solution is less government and less handouts...
It's quite clear that SSI is a bad deal for young people.
For workers full time, there is private disability insurance. For your familiy there is life Insurance. I'm not sure why you want to pretend that gov't is the only option.
In my case the numbers are staggeringly bad. My lifetime...
It all happened because ATF was 'enforcing' the sale of an alleged sawed off shotgun. You mentioned that a new law would be tough on sales, there's a lot more of that coming.
fast and furious anyone?

Scenes from Dr. Zhivago flashed across the sky... and there were two sets of footprints in the carbon
then suddenly there was one set of carbon footprints...and I...
jem, we don't know what the independant variables are, the question is unanswered really. In other words all this constants could be related by a unified theory, giving the illusion of fine tuning.
the anthropic priciple is also discounted
I know you are looking for stu, but I have seen all this and there are many counterarguments. I am not convinced, but I am not going to debate this either.
