You can do a search for user "ammo" and keyword "ledge" and you'll find all his posts where he mentions this. Or you can back up a few posts and look at the link he posted. Assuming she is a he. :p

Good post, xspurt. Unfortunately, Marketsurfer won't read it since he has you on ignore (and he won't see this as he has me on ignore, too). Assuming they are coded, I think the PD's are a prime example of AI at work (artificial ignorance). And to not derail this thread further - MAESTRO did...

Interesting reaction. I guess you're not going to elaborate on market data being pseudo random then. By the way - I thought you had more people on ignore than JH, like xspurt.

We were discussing your statement that market data is pseudo random. I never mentioned charts or candlesticks. And you have no idea what data I think "they" are mining.

No. If your assumption was true, I wouldn't need to know the inputs - there are always patterns that repeat in a pseudo random number sequence. All you have to do is data mine for them. Oh wait... data mining and model building, isn't that what Renaissance Technologies and others do for a...

Surf, I'm posting this reply here as I don't want to derail MAESTROs thread further: It's you who stated that markets are "pseudo random", I simply pointed out that a "pseudo random" series of events is totally predictable from a mathematical point of view (it comes with the definition of...

You know that a pseudo random number sequence is totally predictable, right? Whereas a true random sequence isn't? :p

Ok thanks. So it's relative to the time spent there, a deeper cleavage would probably mean that price did not spend much time there at all and that it would likely bounce next time again.

Ok, but how do you know where the S/R levels are then? If a "ledge" is 25 ticks wide on one chart it's kind of fuzzy isn't it? I'm just curious - I always look at your charts but more often than not I don't understand them. So I thought I'd show my ignorance and ask. :p

ammo, what resolution do you have on the price axis (as in how many ticks wide is each volume bar, the ledge etc)?

Yeah, as exemplified in the Surf's Special Situation Journal thread :p .

First MAESTRO -- thank you again for this thread. I really enjoy the exchange between all participants (yeah, even Surf). I guess one way of telling would be to have a number of profitable TA traders use those charts for actual trading (for a long enough time). If they are profitable, the charts...

There is no evidence that the use of the soroban increases mathematical ability. It does however change the way the brain does that specific type of calculations (more concentrated to the visual/spatial parts). If you practice with an abacus for 4 hours a day or if you practice with pen and...

"...the formal system that underlies all mental activity transcends the system that supports it" from Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid. Your writings bring back memories from a book I read 20 years ago... and never thought of since. It's still in my bookshelf, perhaps it is time...

You're a very smart entity, Mr M, and always a pleasure to read. What are those indicators? In what sense are they orthogonal? If you will -- please post a picture .

Thank you. Interesting stuff. I am guessing you learn to see patterns in the "gauges", and use those patterns for acutal trading? Do traders have any other inputs in decision making apart from the IA tools? Like a chart for example.
