Right now my margin is at the good old 4 to 1 (before the open) - both initial and maintenance :confused: . Is anyone else back to 4 to 1? I wonder what's going on.

All of the settings on my TWS were lost over the week end (even though I didn't update), so I would guess IB must have been up to something. Let's hope it doesn't get too bad.

I don't pretend to understand their margin, but I guess a daytrader has to fall within the 2/1 margin between 3:50 and 4:00. Apparently, the extra margin will only be available from 7:33 to 3:50 - or something like that :confused: .

I agree with you. My complaint is in the lack of warning. I think that is inexcusable! They could have at least sent an e-mail or bulletin. I guess I will either have to trade futures or start looking at prop firms because I really use the margin for the way I trade pairs.

I found out why my maintenance margin was off. I am short some under $17 stocks that are not given 4 to 1 margin. If I put on any more positions, my margin will drop to 2 to 1 at 3:50, so I guess I will have to pick a good place to liquidate half of my account.

I liquidated a position ($16 loss) to avoid liquidation at the open, but my initial requirement is at about 29% instead of 25%. Did anyone have an auto-liquidation? Maybe no one else is high on their margin. Is your initial margin at 25% even if you aren't close to a call?

I lost connection once for a minute or so, now I have lost it again and been down for over ten minutes. Not cool. I am in Idaho, and eSignal is working fine, so I think this must be an IB problem. When it is an internet problem, I have trouble with my other connection/programs too.

Attached (I hope) is a screen shot of the first couple of hours of today's ES chart. This is using IB's feed with Medved Quotetracker. As you can see, it is a one minute with fast stochastics set at 34,34. Does this look about right? PS Thanks to those of you who helped me with the screen...
