Quah, Assuming the ES rallies 300 points how will you calculate an adjustment to the 1/1.25? Or will you still use those values? --MIKE

    Theoretical IB stop loss question?

So if i were to place a buy stop order midnight at 96 for a stock that closed at 95.. regardless of what happens outside of 9:30-4:00 my order would not go through? Also.. does IB just automatically bypass all stop orders at 4:00pm for the nasdaq? Do they have a setup where automatically all...

    Theoretical IB stop loss question?

    Theoretical IB stop loss question?

    1) For US stocks, stops are not triggered by market action outside of regular market hours (i.e., 9:30 am to 4:00pm ET). --- DEF, Is that official? So then one wouldnt have to worry about after hours trading US stocks? --MIKE

    Theoretical IB stop loss question?

If I were to place a stop loss for a stock I went long during the day and hold the stock overnight along with the stop loss... is it possible for the stop to be taken out at some wacky price well under my stop price? Does this ever happen? How exactly does IB calculate stop loss for stocks...

    Greed is Good!

Interesting observation regarding greed... traders say that one should not be greedy and take profits when you can.. not when you have to. From speaking to some top traders... many of them have made the bulk of their money trying to catch the big fish as opposed to taking small profits here...

I am confused maybe you guys can help me out. Assuming the ES is trading at 900. My plan is to buy a breakout at 901. So i want to enter a buy stop order at 901 to enter the trade.. and use a 1 point trailing stop to exit. What exactly do i have to select and transmit in TWS? --MIKE

    Something very simplistic

Let me get this straight.. So you wait for the clock to strike lets say 9:33.. than at 9:33:01 you place a limit order to go long or short at the open of the newly formed bar in progress? In my opinion if your strategy continues to work and you make a nice chunk of $ .. the brains on this...

    Something very simplistic

If only someone can write up the QUAH API for IB's TWS than we would have the holy grail.. lol.. I'm still curious as to how one picks to go long or short when the clock strikes? How can you use stochastics QUAH? Lets say they are not really showing anything in specific and are neutral...

    Something very simplistic

I dont get one thing Quah... when you enter the trade .. do you sychronize your watch with the market. Do you just place a market order the second it hits 9:33:01.. And to those that paper trade this method.. how do you account for slippage? --MIKE

    Why ESTX50 smoother than ES/NQ?

Well.. the smoother the index overall.. the easier it is to pick tops and bottoms.. less headfakes. The ES/NQ is the king of headfakes. For example.. if the ES has a massive rally it doesnt just flip on a dime and start retracing.. the ESTX50 glides.. so it can rally hard then turn the corner...

    Why ESTX50 smoother than ES/NQ?

Wondering why you guys think the ESTX50 is a "smoother" futures index than the ES/NQ? Any reason in particular why this is the case? --MIKE
