The National Transportation Safety Board on Thursday released a preliminary report about Tesla's (TSLA) March 23 fatal crash involving a Model X SUV in California, saying the driver had hands off the steering wheel in the last seconds before the accident. According to data downloaded from the...

$330 hit. 4 million shares traded in just 30 minutes. There's got to be some institutional profit taking / bailing at above $320. Anyway, Puts expiring tomorrow are so cheap for daytrading. Anyone selling Straddles / Strangles? Wonder what Jim Chanos is doing. I doubt that short squeeze like...

    Best programming language for trading?

Exclusivity doesn't seem to make much sense when TDAmeritrade wants a competitive platform that appeals to the broadest possible customer base. Bad management decision?

They created a scripting language just for Thinkorswim? I didn't know that. What was the justification?

Nope. I'm bearish ... I just bought Puts today. Betting on a trip to $300 or so. TSLA has jumped $40 in 4 sessions.

I see. Well, I'm just trading TSLA for money. No feelings one way or the other about the company. I sure hope TSLA will take a trip to $300 first before starting the next leg to $340 or $350.:D:D

There are many variables involved in the calculation of costs. But I'm not going there. All I'm saying is that if Tesla wants a wholly owned factory, then Tesla will have to pay tariffs, per China's current policy. For trading purposes, Tesla's price / volume charts and balance sheet numbers...

    H8rz ==? TSLA : $312.21, high $314.98. I'm betting with Puts now, waiting for a trip back to $300.

Whether or not Tesla can avoid tariffs depends on China's policy and Tesla's strategic outlook, not your so-called "simple common sense" -- cross-border business operations and decisions are results of complex risks / costs vs benefits analysis -- they are NEVER simple, or in the realm of common...

    Best programming language for trading?

There is no need to switch. In fact, Java programs run faster since they are compiled vs Perl scripts, which are interpreted. Is the IB trading platform (or TDameritrade's thinkorswim) not powerful enough to implement your trading system?

Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore for Trump-Kim summit

I feel safe to speculate that if I were to compile a list of influential people with the largest negative political, financial, and economic impact on America, Ivy League grads would dominate the list, especially those from Harvard and Yale.

Thanks a lot. I used to program in Java and Perl. Perl is faster to write and use though.

Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore for Trump-Kim summit

While Dennis Rodman was a (generally accepted / self-proclaimed) master at "agitation" on the basketball court during his Spurs years, he has done more in bringing American goodwill to North Korea than Trump. Rodman has made more positive contribution to foreign relations than Obama, whose...

Would you mind posting the part of the Perl script for connecting to the internet and downloading data from a particular website? Or point me to a good, concise book on the subject. Thanks a lot.

It's the same old stuff - hypes about production numbers, schedule, adequate cash etc, as expected. CNBC's report on Tesla's future factory in Shanghai is not completely accurate (my understanding) w.r.t. tariffs, something levied on foreign imports. A wholly owned Tesla factory without Chinese...

    exercising an option

I fully endorse Robert Morse's advice. I think that's the best / wisest course of action. If you have options in the money on expiration day, your broker may sell them all (usually within a couple of hours of the closing bell), unless your account balance is sufficient to cover the cost of the...
