    Nickel and Zinc

For those that don't receive LME data, Kitco base metals is a good data source. www.kitcometals.com The real time prices they display are spot prices. Spot zinc increased by 7.2% today and spot nickel by 6.7%. ---------------- I am long both nickel and zinc futures on the LME. I...

ES Daytrading: "only 1 trade per day" or "1st trade a loss, rest of day a loss"

This won't work. Why don't you come in during the last two hours of the day, wait untill you see increasing volume along with price moving in the general direction of the day and short or buy 1 contract. Close out your position when you spot price moving opposite to your position on increasing...

ES Daytrading: "only 1 trade per day" or "1st trade a loss, rest of day a loss"

If you don't have a profitable method it doesn't make a difference wether you spread your losing streaks out over multiple days or not. If you do have a profitable method the only sensible thing to do would be to keep on trading.

Why can't "the solution" be LOWER taxes, NO deficits, SMALLER government...?

Prof. Carroll Quigley wrote extensively on the progression of civilizations and identified a basic order in the evolution of political systems. He elaborates on his theories in The Evolution of Civilizations...

Why can't "the solution" be LOWER taxes, NO deficits, SMALLER government...?

If history is any guide the natural progression of democracies seem to be towards tyranny. Checks and balances that made democracies more tolerable than other political systems are subject to erosion from the day they were implemented. Nor have I ever heard a good argument as to why the majority...

    Dynamic Trendlines - YM

It doesn't look like you have a method to draw those trendlines. There is no volume on your chart either, so how do you judge the merit of your trendlines or objectively identify the trend? It's clear that the market's bias is down. Price is currently consolidating in a downtrend. There will...

    Nickel and Zinc

The supply side of the nickel and zinc stories seem to be driven by the same fundamentals. Producers are cutting out put by closing down smelters, shutting down production at mines and delaying new projects. Steel prices have come down somewhat and a number of stainless steel manufacturers...

Nickel Rises in London as Xstrata Suspends Falcondo Operations By Chanyaporn Chanjaroen Aug. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Nickel rose for the first time in four sessions in London after Xstrata Plc, the world's fourth- largest producer of the metal, suspended production at its Falcondo operations in...

    Nickel and Zinc

Two industrial metals that made all time highs in 2007, yet declined nearly 60% since. Nickel is currently trading at $19,135.00 per tonne and zinc at $1,645.50. Nickel briefly ran up to $54,000 a tonne in May 2007. Because of the high prices in Nickel and Iron ore, stainless steel producers...

    Commodities big picture

What changes from here on forth is the way individual commodities cycle. The run in commodities was driven by macroscopic reasoning that raised prices unilateraly. The declining dollar and increasing oil prices became the most prominent banners for the trend, and it is not suprising to see both...

    Warning!!

What we witnessed today is a selling climax in the commodities markets. Emphasis in market perception shifted from inflation to deflation and the majority view is currently that demand for raw materials will decline in the near future. As a result, commodities corrected over 20 percent since the...

    Short US Steel Maker

I share the same concerns, largely because of rapidly expanding production capacity in the steel industry. This is the reason I didn't invest directly into a steel maker, but looked for an investment that would benefit from increased steel production. I still see strong demand in the near...

    Short US Steel Maker

I just went long a base metal miner. Steel companies have shown an excellent ability to pass on the rising cost of raw materials to their customers. Steel demand remains strong even in this enviornment of restrictive credit.

As always, technology will kill the old system and usher in a new one

Very interesting. The basic claim Dr. Mills makes is that he manages to shrink the hydrogen atom to a below ground state size using a sodium catalyst. Energy is released in the form of ultra violet light and is absorbed by the sodium catalyst. His theoretical explanation of this phenomenon...

    Iterative Refinement

I found this to be the hardest part of trading this method: dealing with situations where increasing volume does not translate into a trend. I learned to anticipate such market behaviour by carefully observing price action around order walls on the DOM and keeping track of horizontal...

    Iterative Refinement

What this method requires is practice, practise, practise. A number of templates have been given to you to work with, the most important of which is the P/V relationship. It's your job to train yourself to apply those templates under different market conditions and circumstances. Succesful...

Chrysler pulled the plug on leasing

The implications are that Chrysler will take a gigantic hit on booked revenues. It's got to do something with major problems in their Financial arm. There can't be any other reason for this.

    GM Bankruptcy Thread

At some point bankruptcy protection becomes a solution and no longer something to try and avoid. It would be an ideal position for GM to renegotiate pensions and health benefits with the government and unions. Senior debt could be paid off by selling European and Korean divisions to other...
