    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Halted Stocks Guys, thanks for starting this thread, and special thanks to def and IBsoft for spending time with us here. My question/request concerns the ability to timely enter orders to trade stocks as they come off "halt status" Lately (last 2-3 weeks), after the "halt" is lifted, I'm...

Do any of you guys use Bloomberg? If so, how much do you pay?

Trouble getting filled on nyse stocks

The only time i use market orders on listed is when the market is moving away from me and fast....and 7 or maybe 8/10 times, it turns out to be the right thing to do. Your mileage may differ.

    Is this Illegal?

Dumb and Dumber New Guy_ This discussion is pretty pointless unless there's a real way to make money Traders in your room (to pump your position) = Dumb High powered hedge fund (to pump everyone's posion) = Dumber I doubt you (or anyone else) could find either, even if you did...

For stocks specifically, would any of you be able/care to contrast IB's software with that of others such as Hammer, RealTick, REDI?, Tradstation? Hydra? any others? I use IB and have never used any of the others.

Agreed, I just believe my motivation...working extra hours, etc is directly reflected in my PnL over time.

JZ- I don't know about you, but fear seems to be a pretty powerful motivator for me. No wife or kids here, but will have a mortgage soon. Bills aside, I think it would equal ultimate pain in my life to ever have a boss again and lose the freedoms I enjoy now. Knowing this makes it a bit...

Who here trades "retail" full time

So far, it sounds as if everyone uses Interactive Brokers as their primary (as I do). Does anyone use someone other than IB? I really want to make sure I (we) aren't missing a better option either for primary or backup accounts.

Who here trades "retail" full time

I can't imagine what possible interest any "profitible" trader, with no agenda (like me) would have in jumping thru hoops to prove a certain level of income to people on an internet message board. Anyone who's really doing it would understand this very well.

Who here trades "retail" full time

Shred- Not sure if this one was for me, but a couple thoughts... My buddy with the redi machine works for a 2-3 bil hedge fund and probably trades a couple million shares a day just over the machine (not counting all the other vol he does). I don't know the "minimum". So far as becoming a...

Who here trades "retail" full time

For anyone who hasn't mentioned this and cares to share: What's your "style"? Who's your main broker? How's your biz set up (i.e. sole prop, sub s, LLC, LLP)? How long have you been trading profitably? What did you do b/f? Me: What's your "style"? I mainly daytrade, but...

Who here trades "retail" full time

New- I come to the same conclusions as you re: hedge fund. I just want trade and make $$$$, not deal with any of the extraneous b.s. Question: What's a FIX system? Also wondering, a friend of mine at a hedge fund says he has a "REDI machine" that he uses to trade at .002 per share but I think...

Who here trades "retail" full time

Shred- Thanks for the reply. It's refreshing to know you and others are out there. Amazingly, it really does seem as if most on ET may not even trade or might be an "occasional/newbie" trader at best. Also, while it's sometimes really great entertainment, i kinda do get bored reading about...

Who here trades "retail" full time

I've looked into it and "going pro" has no benefit for me either. It would seem that some of us "retail guys" might have a lot to share as far as which brokers we use, which one's we've used and left and possibly what sort of accounting systems we use. Personally, I formed and trade thru and...

Which broker(s) do you use? Which ones have you tried? I mainly use IB and have yet to find anyone better.

Who here trades "retail" full time

Curious who else here at ET trades stocks "retail" full time (no other source of income). I have for the last 2.5 years. Seems like our small subset of the board may have a lot in common if we care to be in touch....

    anyone use hidden orders?

The tv ad goes. If you need to trade a million shares with no market impact..... and they mean in one block......I'm thinking most et'ers (including me) aren't quite to that level yet.

    anyone use hidden orders?

Joe- Good thread topic. Does anyone here actually use hidden orders who would care to share experiences?

    anyone use hidden orders?

duard- again this would be an example on an iceberg order. iceberg = can't see true size. hidden = can't see the order at all
