    SHAK options?

Anyone know what the process is for getting options listed on a new IPO? SHAK is a billion dollar company trading several million dollars of volume consistently at this point, but it's been 3 months now and there's still no options market. Is there something about the company or the stock...

    Options Exercise Question for IB

The thing to watch if you're worried about margin problems around assignment is IB's "predicted post-expiry excess" balance. If that goes negative too close to the end of the last day, they might close the position (or something else?) early to avoid that risk.

    Fidelity Warning!

Risk management at Fidelity is super hostile. You're lucky they didn't ban you from trading altogether and tell you to get out with no reconsideration. That's their usual response to anything odd.

Elizabeth Warren blasts Mary Jo White’s SEC leadership

"Looks like your disciplinary ruling will be a close one, likely 3-2 against. But if you hired my husband as a consultant before we got to that point, I'd have to recuse myself and you'd get off with a tie."

Well if you do a lot more trading, you'll get where you're going faster. Either up or down.

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

I was referring to volpunter's comment about smart routing. IB's smart routing definitely hits dark pools first, at least in many cases, which you can tell if you check the routing for all your fills in detail. If it went to an exchange, that will be listed; if not, it will be SMART or one of...

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

I think the reference to dark pools is when sending a marketable order before hitting the exchanges. I don't think it will rest on a dark pool unless you direct routed it there.

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

Cut him some slack - I replicated the problem at least once, so it's not all in his head. I invite you to try it yourself if you want to help understand the issue.

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

I got it to work on EEM and also FSIC, among others. SPY did not work the first time (SMART) but did work the second time I tried. No obvious difference, so I don't know what is going on. I am not running a recent TWS build.

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

I tried this with SPY and entered a way OOTM buy and sell for the same OCA group with no parent order and SMART routing. As you described, both were listed as "held" / blue status. I tried this with another stock I am actively trading, entering an at-the-bid buy (bullish) and an OOTM sell in...

Unacceptable Limit Stock Order Handling by IB

OP claims this only applied to stocks. Perhaps he can give an example ticker and the behavior. I have used bracket orders at IB and the bracket orders are usually "held" status until the original order fills. Once the parent fills, the bracket orders should go live. They don't always, but if...

    tips fund question

TIPS are just bonds of a different flavor - they can go up and down in price for many of the same reasons normal bonds do: changes in expectations about future interest rates, inflation prospects, government intervention, etc. There is no guarantee that a TIPS fund will hold to maturity, and if...

    ridiculous Bid/ Ask Spread

I only tried once or twice, but the adjusted contracts were closing only at IB. Sometimes it was that way at the exchange level, so using other brokers won't necessarily help.

    IB VWAP versus MOC

When I looked at the pricing, I wasn't willing to pay the premium for guaranteed VWAP, except perhaps under exceptional circumstances (where I would probably trade it myself instead). If you're comfortable with sizing for your MOC orders and they aren't too big, I wouldn't have a strong...

Or possibly the lesson is that your time may be up sooner if you spend your time in places like Mexico.

Can anyone explain what this guy was doing?

Gee, if he was doing this for years, I wonder why he only caused a flash crash once? Something wrong with that logic for sure separate from whether or not he was following the rules.
